Could I be pregnant with Mirena IUD?

I went to my Dr 18 days ago to get my IUD taken out and replaced. Well, my Dr couldn't find the strings and after scraping my uteras with a brush (it hurt so bad!) for a few minues, he said that he cannot find it and that the string the strings may have slipped up into the cervical canal. After I left the office, I was cramping really bad and spotting, which he said would happen. As of right now, I am scheduled to go in and have the IUD removed surgically next month.

I'd call the doctor if I was you just because of the complications you are already having with your IUD. I'd be more worried about infection or the possibility of the IUD dislodging since he was trying to get it out before and since he did the scraping than pregnancy.

Pregnancy is possibly with an IUD in, but it's very rare. You can take a test to see for sure if you want. Typically, people that have early pregnancy symptoms start to feel them about 14 days (give or take in each direction) after conception. If you are indeed having early pregnancy symptoms, you should be able to have a positive result on a pregnancy test (it's rare to have symptoms and get a negative result).

Good luck!

I had a Mirena IUD for 4 yrs and started having issue with it..I started having very frequent bleeding(every 2 weeks) and just knew something wasnt right..well in the end of dec the thing fell out...I found out a bit later that I was indeed pregnant..Im due end of sept with a little girl..So yes it is rare but it can happen..Better safe than sorry..take the test when its time just so you know.

Thank you for the responses. I took a $ tree test on Saturday with first morning urine and it was negative, I'm gonna wait to take another one. I found out I was pg with $ tree test with my 5 year old dd, so I know they are accurate. I have finally stopped spotting on Saturday night. Any advice as to when I should test again?

Since things are so different for you with your situation, I'd wait a few days or maybe even a week before testing again. I hope it all works out for you. Has your pain and sick feeling gone away too?
