Cryptic Message from Doctor! Help!

I had blood work done last week for my routine checkup. I went back in today and the doctor told me everything looked good. She noticed that they forgot to test my white blood cell count and asked me to make an appointment to come back in next week. Other than that I was "perfect". She went through each blood result with me.

Well I got home and there was a message from the doctor's office. They said they needed me to come in tomorrow and give a urine sample. The lady said, "We just need you to come in some time tomorrow and give a urine sample. I don't want to say why on your answering machine."

All my girlfriends seem to think I'm pg but I got my period. Could I still be pg? I was thinking maybe it was just a routine thing but then why would they need a urine sample TOMORROW when they already know I'm coming back in next week?

Now I'm worried and when I got the message, the office was already closed. Any help or reassurance is greatly appreciated!

you could be pregnant or there could have been another reason for it. most doctors offices wont say anything about why they need to do tests on a machine because of the cnfidentiality laws. i hope that helps a bit. the only other thing you can do is give the sample and wait for the results but when you go in they should be able to tell you why it is needed.

Hi there... so, did you call back today? I think the pp is right, usually dr's/nurses won't leave any kind of real information on answering machines (gotta love HIPAA). It's possible they want to do a pregnancy test. Do you know if they tested for that in the blood test? Usually that's not one of the "regular" tests performed during a routine check up... well, good luck, hope you get the answer you're looking for! Let us know how it goes... :)

Thank you for all the support and answers. I got there and the receptionist said to me, "Yes! We need you to take a urine pregnancy test before your MRI next week" and I just looked at her and asked what MRI? Her response? "Oh no! Don't tell me we called the wrong person!"

The message on the answering machine sounded so serious and I got myself so upset over the whole situation. I was up until after midnight and tossed and turned until 5am. I had just recently stopped taking my bcps. My S/O and I are currently operating on "If it happens, great!" so I knew there was a chance I could be pg but AF was on time and heavy. I was so afraid I was having a miscarriage or ecoptic pregnancy. :(

So now I think it's time to find a new doctor.

Hello,

OMG...It is DEFINATELY time for a new doctor!!!! Not only did they make you worry for nothing, they never contacted the RIGHT person because they thought they already did when they called you. That is a scary thought.

I am sorry AF showed. I hope you do not go through something like that again!

Good Luck!
