Do i have to re-test again??????

My LMP was 1 Sept, i had unprotected sex ( and used withdrawl method) on 13 Sept. my period cycle is average 28 - 29 days. My period is due on 28 - 30 Sept.

I have done a quantative blood test ( shows exact amount of HCG in blood) today which is considered 9 days from the intercourse. The test dected No HCG in blood, which means (-)

*My question*

Do i need to re-test again? i mean are 9 days after sex enough for the HCG to be produced in the blood and dectect pregnancy or it's still early??? i wish the test i did is accurate, but still i need to hear your opinion and advice from you poeple out there and from those who have experience/knowlegde in such matters.

Thxs in advance

Hi,

I hope this helps some...implantation can occur between 6-12 days after ovulation, which means, if an egg was fertilized...implantation may not have occured yet (since it's only been a maximum of 9 days in which pregnancy could have happened), and your body would not have produced any HCG yet. First Response Early Pregnancy tests *can* detect pregnancy in up to 52% of women who take them 4 days before their period is late. My advice is to wait, if your period is late, then take a home preg test.

I hope you get the answer you want!

My first +hpt didn't come until 10 dpo....It was very faint with EARLy first response early...It can detect as little as 15 mg hcg....I believe it's the only hpt out there that can detect that low!

I've also heard that healthy fertile women have an hcg level of 5 mg, even when they're not pregnant.

Good luck!

Michele :-)

i'm confused - why have you already taken a test when you haven't even missed your period yet? if you were that concerned that you might get pregnant, you should have tried to get the morning after pill. but anyway, since it's too late for that (i'm assuming you don't want a baby since you tried to use the pull-out method), i'd suggest you wait and see if you get your period. if it comes and seems normal, don't worry about it unless you start having other symptoms of pregnancy (but use a condom next time! you know what you call people who use the pull-out method? PARENTS!!!). if it doesn't come, or is lighter and/or shorter than usual, test again. like someone already said, it can take longer than 9 days for you to actually be pregnant and not just have a fertilized egg in you, and it can take a while for the hgc levels to become detectible. good luck!
