Do Ins. consider Pg to be pre-existing?

I am changing jobs this week and I wont have insurance coverage with my new job until October 1st. However, (Surprise!) I am late and I want to go to the doc's office for a blood test. Is pregnancy considered a pre-existing condition with insurance companies? If I am pregnant, I wanna be sure this baby is covered!

In most cases insurance does not consider it pre-existing. If you know what company the insurance is through, you can go to their websites and check it out before hand.

Good luck to both of you.

Some insurance companies do actually consider pre-existing conditions.. What you will have to do is find out what ins. co. its goin to be and ask what they consider pre-existing.. I don't think that ins.co's consider pregnancy pre-existing tho.. I dont know for sure.. you would definitely have to check into that.. I think it would stupid if they did!! lol.. Good luck!

Congrats on the job change. I know a few years ago, most insurance companies did not consider it a pre-existing condition. However, since the evil insurance companies are always looking for more ways to deny claims, you might look into it.

Have you researched your company's short-term disability/maternity leave policy? A lot of companies have a 1-year minimum employment timeframe to qualify for short-term disability pay. You would still be able to take an unpaid leave/FMLA, but you wouldn't get the 60 or so % of pay for any portion of your leave.

Good luck to you!
