Does this add up?

I'm not trying to get pregnant.
They say that you are fertile 10-14 days after the first day of your period, right? We got a little carried away with no protection (bad!) and it was 10.5 days after the first day of my period. Not fertile enough to get pregnant, right? I'm not going to start worrying until I'm officially late but at this point I'm curious.

Thanks!
Dana (was hoping to "conceive" #2 via adoption)

Hi Dana, it all really depends on how long your cycles are. The rule of thumb is not to count forward 14 days from the first day of your period. But to count BACK 14 days from the first day of your period to figure when you WERE fertile last month. For example, I typically have 32 day cycle... so counting back 14 days from 32 is 18, meaning that I probably ovulate on day 18 of my cycles, and that would make me fertile from days 15-18. Well, Hope that helps...let us know how you're doing when you get closer to AF :)

Thank you Robin for your information! I didn't know you count backwards. I've never really had to worry about this stuff before. According to my dates, my daughter shouldn't have been conceived when she was, the doctor told me I was obviously very fertile (oh no!).

I had cramping (could have swore that AF was coming) all day Saturday (which is when we had our "fun") & Sunday so I was freaking out because I thought I was ovulating. Now I'm getting slight cramping today. I doubt I'd ovulate twice in one cycle. I'm confused.

I've only kept track of my last two cycles but I average a 29 day cycle.
The first day of my last cycle was January 4th.
And according to the information you gave me...who knows! The answer will be known when AF shows herself (or doesn't). I also read that sperm can live inside a woman's body, if conditions are suitable, for 72 hours. Yikes!

All the best to you & thanks again for your information!
