Ectopic pregnancy?
| Sun, 11-09-2003 - 8:51am |
Hi all.
I was wondering if any of you have ever experienced an ectopic pregnancy and would be willing to tell me how you felt - when you found out - etc.? Also, if you have successfully had children after that. I'd really appreciate it.
I am desperately worried that's what happening to me. Thanks.
Rachel

I'm sorry I can't give you any advice, but I was wondering if you can share your symptoms with me, or why you suspect you may have an ectopic pregnancy...? I'm having some pregnancy-like symptoms (see my post this morning) and I've wondered if that could be a possibility for me as well. Thanks so much and good luck!
Sincerely, Trisha

I just went on these sites and they said sorry couldn't find it but, those are the addresses and I found them at www.parentsplace.com and at the top left, type in eptopic pregnancy symptoms? and there are many sites.
Regular early pregnancy symptoms, such as exhaustion, dizziness, nausea and vomiting. I am currently 2 days late for AF (and I'm usually like clockwork, so this is significant). Last night I felt a couple of sharp, shooting pains in my lower abdomen - left side - not ridiculously painful, but definite.
No bleeding, but I would only be about 2 weeks along - not big enough to cause bleeding yet.
And most importantly, before we were TTC, I went to a specialist who performed a laparoscopy to find out if I had endometriosis. While he was in there, he also did a test and shot dye through my tubes. I did turn out to have extremely mild endometriosis, but more importantly, the dye he shot through didn't come out the other end. He said it could mean one of two things - either my fallopian tubes are blocked, or there was a mechanical malfunction in the machine he used - no way to know until I tried to get pregnant. Obviously, if my tubes are indeed blocked, it would follow that any pregnancy could implant there instead of "falling out" into the uterus.
So here I am. I'm 34 years old and I feel pregnant, but my tests have all been negative. From what I've read, what I'm experiencing could well be an ectopic pregnancy. And if it is, I want to treat it as quickly as possible.
I'm really very worried. If anyone has experienced this and was able to successfully have a child, I really need to hear your story.

I don't remember who posted this question:) but there's some other people that said some stuff, any who, I too am exxperiencing the same thing...It's been going on since the deginning of October, hasn't gotten any worse, obviously cause I'm not dying in the ER or anything :) sorry if that made some of you mad, but I thought I'd make some humor and help myself from being so down lately....I"ve been extra sensative, and moody my husband has noticed and I feel terrible for him!!!! BUt I"ve been dizzy, light headed, bloated , feeling of nausea but I haven't thrown-up, and I've had this terribly lower abdomen pain in my left side also....I went to the doctor last week and he said I had gaseous acid in my intestines but that really dosen't make sense, and he gave me pills to treat it and they haven't done anything, actually when I take them I get worse....we're going to go into the doctor and get blood drawn for lab work, so if anyone of you find out anything before the middle or end of this week please tell me, I'd really to know what the heck is going on with my body...and I'm never ir-regular and last period (Halloween) was very ir-regular and I don't know what to expect...

horribly in both the back and side. I senselessly waited
until the 11th week to go to the emergency room, which was
kind of pushing it. I found out 12 weeks is the borderline
amount of time it would take for the tube to actually rupture
and then your life would be in jeopardy. It is possible for
a rupture to occur however earlier than that. I waited so long
because I have a tremendously childish fear of doctors and I
figured that I was just having another miscarriage (had one
2 years previous).
The sooner you think you may be having one, the better it is
to go for an ultrasound. By 5 weeks, it will be able to be
determined if the sac has formed in the uterus or not. If it
doesn't show up, injections of a certain cancer treatment drug
will stop the dividing cells and you could have an easy miscarriage
on your own within a couple of days. I got the shot, but it was
too late and I had to go in for emergency surgery to remove my
entire tube. I was a little depressed for a while after, but I've
come to accept that it isn't the woman's fault. Nothing you do can
cause an ectopic to happen, it's just a matter of chance.
It is extremely possible after an ectopic, even after a tube removal
to get pregnant again. I've had 2 miscarriages since, but they aren't
related to the situation. Plus I think I may be pregnant again now,
and hopefully this is the one that will work! My advice is don't let
it go too long if that's what you suspect. You'll know when you're
in real trouble ahead of time because the pain is unbearable and very
persistent, enough to keep you in bed for days at a time.
I wish you luck, Valerie
