Has this happened to anyone?

Hello! Thanks to those who respond. I stopped taking birth control pills two months ago and have just been using condoms. This month I am five days late for my period. I don't feel like I have had any of the "typical" symptoms of pregnancy. My husband wants to wait until it's been a week before I take a home test. Has this happened to anyone else?

Well no, it hasn't happened to me but may I suggest you take a test when you want to and not when your husband wants to. That seems silly. I would go out tomorrow or even tonight and buy one. Why wait??

I am in your exact situation right now - stopped pills about 2 months ago, but not really "trying" yet...my period is late (and is NEVER late), but I have no symptoms...plus a negative HPT last Saturday, 2 days after I should have started...I'm going to retest in the morning...if I were you I'd go ahead and test - it's the anticipation that kills you! If my test is negative again tomorrow, then I'm going to be nutz if my period doesn't come...I just hope there's not something wrong like a cyst or something...

Keep in mind that after getting off the pill it could take up to 3 months for your cycle to regulate.

Hi there...

Just from my experience of going off the pill, I had one regular normal month right after I stopped. Then after that it took me a few months to get "regular" again. It's because (as the previous post mentioned) it takes your body some time to adjust to being off the pill. And that first month off isn't a "real" period, it's still from the pill.

I would say if you think you'll be really disappointed seeing a negative, then take your hubby's advice and wait a little more before testing. But if you're like I was (and just HAD to test), then you should definitely test now, and if negative, and still no period in a few days, retest! Hope that helped...good luck!! :)
