Have you been through this?!

I went on the depo provera shot in the month of November. I had no period from November to February. I was due for my next depo shot on Feb. 13. I decided against it. Since then, I have had a minor case of spotting in the month of March, but no actual periond. I alerted my doctor's office and I was told that I should expect it in about a month or two. I still went ahead and took a pregnancy test. NEGATIVE. I was also advised to take the pill which I used before. I started the pill again about a week ago.
With much concern, I visited the doctor again. She said that I was a month late and that it was out of the norm. Another urine test was given. NEGATIVE. She did not seem convinced. She had an HCG blood test done. I am awaiting the results.
Has anyone been in such a situation? Has anyone gotten pregnant while using depo? I gained about eight ponds in the last 2 months and my breast are now sore. I am constanly bloated and gasy. Are these signs of being pregnant. Help!

Hello,

It sounds like the DEPO shot was not the right form of birth control for you. I do not think you are pregnant though since you had several tests done that were negative. Hopefully after a month or two you body will start to regulate itself while on oral contraception.

It sounds like the shot to me. I had all sorts of problems coming off the shot. It took me a little over a year for my body to regulate it self.

Thank you for responding. I guess I had excellent reasons to get off depo after the first shot. This thing sometimes made me an emotional wreck. I hope that it has not affected my chances of getting pregnant. I mean, yes it was one shot. Know of anyone who was not able to conceive after depo.

I don't know of anyone who couldn't conceive. It just takes longer. It took me 5 mths once I started charting.

I was on depo for 5 yrs. I had no period the whole time i was on it...it was nice! That is what usually happens when you are on the shot. I got off of it Oct05, due to a blood clot in my leg. Now I am not aloud to have BC at all. Which is fine due to DH and I are TTC. The depo can make some women gain weight and feel pg. It is due to the shot makes you body feel pg to slow down or stop your AF. I did not receive my first AF until May06 and have been irregular ever since. I am on cd80 with BFN urine and blood test under my belt. They are suspecting PCOS so I am getting treated with metformin now. my u/s was fine but I have all the symtoms of PCOS so they thought they would treat me. If I do not get pg within the next 3 months I am to be refered to a RE. Oh there is a slim chance to get pg on depo. It is one of the top BC to be on for prevention of pg.

You will be fine. Just keep on the know! Good luck!
