Hi ladies,

My doc called today - she got my ultrasound results back, and they found a cyst on my right ovary. It measures 2 1/2cm. At least I have an answer as to why I've had pain on my right side for two weeks now.

But now I'm scared. I have no idea if this is big or little, if it will get bigger or go away, if it will affect my chances of getting pregnant, etc... DH & I are not allowed to BD without protection for 6 weeks - that is when I have to go get another ultrasound. (fun fun, let me tell you...lol) How do I get this out of my mind and just relax? To complicate things, now I am worrying about this so AF will be LATER than she already is! (going on a month now, but not pg)

Help! Any words of wisdom?? Thanks ladies =)

Hi Karen,

I can only tell you what I have heard about cysts from my own doctor though I haven't been diagnosed as having one...I don't think you should worry: I've heard that cysts can be 'removed' either by way of the pill or by surgery. The surgery is not supposed to be complicated at all and my doctor said that cysts don't seriously interfere with your chances of getting pregnant. I know it's scary but now you know what's going on and you can do something about it...good luck!

Cysts are pretty common, I was on Clomid years ago and I ended up getting a cyst on one of my ovaries and they stated it was pretty common. You probably got a cyst when you ovulated and it didn't absorb back into the ovary. That's what they usually do. They probably want to see if it absorbs naturally, if not they will do a procedure and I had it done it's called a laparoscopy. They than can also get a good look at your ovaries and see if your tubes are clear. I had it done. You will be ok, and it won't have anything to do with your chances of having a baby.
