Hi Everyone! I had an IUD placed last summer. Everything was going fine and placement was verified every month like I was told to check. Well, just a few days ago I have begun to feel very nauseated and sick to my stomach like I was when I got pregnant with my other two kids!! I don't get my period anymore because of the IUD, so I can't use that as one of my criteria. My breast are slightly tender, but I just started an exericse routine that could cause this. I don't notice I am peeing any more than normal, but than again I have been so nauseated I have not been drinking that much. My only clue that this could be a stomach virus is that I had diarrhea for a day. I don't want to let this go to long because I don't know what will happen if I am pregnant because of the presence of an IUD. I said I would test if I still felt like this by Friday. Well, tomarrow if Friday!! What should I do? I am sorry to ramble, I am just scared. I already have two beautiful girls, there is no room in my house for another baby! My father in law just paid for us to go to disney in the spring! I could go on and on, I just don't think I want another baby!! This IUD was supposed to be 99% effective! HELP!!!!

I would test. You need to find out and putting it off will not make it go away.

It is very possible that you can get pregnant on a IUD, I did. Before I found out that it was a atopic pregnancy the nurse said that babies come out with IUD coming out of their head, arm...ect I know it sounds scarey and I hope that doesn't make or brake your decissions. The gyne specialist, sergent told me that he doesn't suggest IUD's and he would preferred if I had it removed when I had my tube repared. I agreed because I got pregnant less then a month after I had it placed. Well hope that helped with your question. 1% is a large number just remember that when you seek any type of birthcontroll. It is always best to double up...ttfn

Be who you are and say what you feel because those  who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

Yes IUD and pregnancy is not a good combination. Most doctors like to try to remove it, if caught early enough, but otherwise you can continue the pregnancy and hope for the best, or often terminate. There has been a lot of controversy over weather an IUD puts you at risk for ectopic pregnancy or not. From what I read its not much higher than a normal women. But ectopic can be dangerous as i'm sure you know. I would test, or go see your doctor and get a blood test...actually no matter what the HPT says, I still recomend you see your doctor to be sure. Better to be safe in this situation.

I had a copper IUD for four years with no problems what-so-ever. I removed it in Sept03 because we are TTC #2. I'll know by the 23rd if it is easy getting pregnat once removed. I still think you should take a home pregnancy because I have heard of people who still end up pregnant on the IUD, you could be that 1%! Wishing you the best!
