+home test, -blood test! how???

I ovulated 11 days ago. This morning's pee-on-a-stick was +! So I went to the Air Force base medical clinic for my blood test and it was negeative! I thought blood tests were more sensitive than home tests. Should I believe the home test? It's early Friday morning and I can't get another blood test until Tuesday, but I will take one more pee test in the morning.
Has this happened to anyone else? What was the outcome?
Thanks!

Hello Moonjelly! :)

Welcome to the board!

I'm not sure if you're TTC or not, but I've read that sometimes when you get a BFP on an HPT, and then a negative test a few days after, it can mean you just had a chemical pregnancy. Which means you were pregnant, but it just didn't stick. Did you mention to the people at the clinic that you got a + on the urine test? What did they say?

I know there are some women on this board that have had chemical pregnancies, so maybe they can help and share their stories.

Good luck! And if you are TTC, then I hope that blood test was inaccurate and you really are pg! :) Keep us posted on how things are going....

Hi, Robin. Thank you for your input. Last Thursday I took a HPT in the morning and it was positive. A few hours later the lab blood test was taken, and it was negative! I was shocked, disappointed, and confused. That's why I posted here. Since then, I've taken two more HPTs and they have both been positive! So, Tuesday morning (tomorrow) I will go back to the lab and get another blood test, which will most likely be positive, since tomorrow will (should) be the first day after my period should have started. I guess I probably went too early (last week) to get my first blood test. It's just that I'm very anxious this time. We've been TTC since January, and I had a MC in April, so I want to get to the OB/Gyn ASAP! I have Air Force medical insurance (my husband is active duty) and it takes 10 days after your positive blood test to get your "approval letter" to go to an OB/GYN!

In a nutshell: I'm pregnant. Let's hope it "sticks" this time.

I hope things go well for you.

I'm in quite the situation my self, but don't know what to think.
Keep up posted on your results.

I finally have my answer to how I could have a +HPT and a -blood test. I was impatient and took the home test as early as possible (four days before my expected period.) It was positive, so I went to the lab and took a blood test, which was negative. Over this last weekend I took three more HPTs which were positive! So, I went back to the lab Tuesday and took another blood test which was positive! I asked her about the previous blood test, and she said their preg test was qualitative and ONLY gave a + result if the HCG levels were over 25. Some HPTs are more sensitive than certain blood tests. So, don't despair (like I did) if it happens to you. It just may be too early. Lesson learned. I have a dr. appt. next Wednesday, so let's hope this one "sticks".
