Hopes and fears

I am 6 days late but I haven't tested it because I want to be sure I'm not just running late...I'm so hopeful for a baby a part of me doesn't want to even test and possibly be let down...yet at the same time I'm scared to be pregnant because my husband has recently started saying he doesn't want to have biological children due to SIDS running in both sides of his family. I do know he wants kids (he wants to adopt) but he has had very bad experiences...when he was 4 his 6 week old sister died from SIDS and last month my sister almost died due to complications of childbirth so I'm sure he's just scared but I'm so worried he'll think I got pregnant on purpose despite his wishes especially since he knows I want it so much.

Well, I just had to vent my hopes and fears to someone instead of keeping it to myself! I don't want to mention it to DH till I'm sure but I'm stressing myself out.

Have any of you been in this situation?

Hi there...I would say before you add any undue stress to your life you should take a test. Especially if you're 6 days late. You should be able to get an accurate result by now. If it's negative, then wait a few more days to see if AF shows and if nothing yet, then test again. Most tests come with 2-3 anyways. Then when you know your answer, you can move forward. Try not to stress too much over how your DH will react. You will both get through it together if you are pg. Good luck and please post back to let us know how you're doing... :)

if you want to be pregnant and carry your own child there are things that the doctor can send home with you to prevent your child from not breathing while it is sleeping. you can insist on having heart and breathing monitors sent home with you. i almost asked for those to be sent home with me during my last pregnancy because my son was not breathing when he was born but when they sent us home he was fine. the doctors also told me that there is a less likely chance of sids if you do not smoke in your home. good luck with whatever you decide. there are many children in the world that need loving parents so no matter what you decide a child would be lucky to have you as its mother.

Robin is right, the only way to know is to take a test, and don't stress.

SIDS: Sids is does not run in the family. It is not genetic. There is a lot of reseach on the web about SIDS, but most of all it is not genetic. If you read some of it a lot of DR's give SIDS of the explination of death because they cannot find one. (Natural Causes).

I hope that is helpful in your Journey. GL.
