How do you REALLY Know(besides the test)

I have been on the pill for about 9 years and I stopped taking it at the end of August because my husband was worried I wouldn't be able to get pregnant next summer when we want to start trying. I had my period at that time(Aug 28) and have not had another since (its been almost 6 weeks!) I am not sure if this is normal for stopping the pill or if it means something. I have also been super tired lately, but I can't tell if its because of work (I'm an elementary school teacher) or because i wake up at night a lot (which is nothing new). I have no other signs of anything and don't want to go buy a test everytime I feel weird. Looking for advice from people in similar situations!

I've never been on the pill for more than 1-2 cycles so I am not sure... My sister's period was TOTALLY screwed up after she got off the shot and she didn't have a period for months sometimes. It took her years to get her body straight from all of it and to get pregnant again.
I know the pill helps regulate, so it could be that the absence of the pill has thrown your body off and it's reacting by not having your period.
HOWEVER...
I would test just in case. If you come up negative I would go see a DR just to be sure everything's okay or at least call for consultation. You can never be too safe especially if you want to start trying next year!!
Good luck to you!
