My last period started on may 13th, I took my last pill a few days before.. and now Im just waiting for af to come back to start them again, but its been over 3 months now.. and no signs of it at all.. I have been having a few cramps for the last couple of weeks. I was just wandering how long can it take usually until af comes back, and is it possible I could get have gotten pg in that time.. I did take a test almost a month and a half ago.. so anyways.. I am just wandering now... and waiting.. I hate waiting.. if I am pg than its fine.. but if I am not, its fine also.. I just want to know!!
Thank you in advance

Hi Hushpuppy... I am not sure how long it's "supposed" to take for AF to start after bcp. I was on them for 13 years and mine came back just like regular. But I think it's very common for women to take some time for their bodies to adjust after coming off bcps. If it's been 3 months and still no AF, I would definitely call your doctor though. They can put you on something to start AF and they can also do a blood test to make sure your aren't PG if it's just not showing up on HPTs yet.

Well, good luck and I hope AF starts soon for you. Keep us posted on how your doing...

With my first child I was on bcp for 7 years and went off it and got AF right away the next month and pg the next, this time, I went off it (on since January) and I still haven't gotten AF, I even took provera to jump start it and still nothing! I went off bcp on 6/13. It's very frustrating, I feel for you!
Good luck!

hi! hey we're almost the same, I went off bc on 5/7, got af on 5/10 and didn't start af. I know exactly how you feel- the not knowing etc. I had times I thought I was pg, then times I didn't etc on & off during the whole 3 months. I went to see the dr at 3 months (8/9) and they put me on provera (which is progesterone only) to kick start af. today is my last day, I should start af in the next week or so but we shall see.

my advice --- use protection for the next couple weeks and then get one last blood test to confirm you are definitely not pg. if you are going to take provera to help af start you want to be positive you are not pg.

my dr also checked my thyroid & pituitary glands through bloodwork which were both fine. she said it happens to many women for af to take forever to get back on track after bc, sometimes you just need a little hormone help to get it going for you. it's unlikely for there to be anything else wrong with you if you are not experiencing other symptoms like pain, leaking breasts, bad headaches, you know that kind of stuff. probably all just hormonal but I would go in and get checked out

good luck to you!!!!!!

Hi Alice!

Well, I'm happy to hear you got SOME answer--of course in the form of ugly ol' AF isn't always the funnest answer, at least you can start getting your cycles back to normal and start trying. Actually, wait...are you trying, or were you hoping for an answer one way or the other? (I forget from before what your situation was--oops!)

I stopped the pill and had AF the very next month. Have you taken a pg test yet? I would probably take one although I hear that sometimes it takes a couple of months after the pill to become regular again.

good luck and let me know what happens!

hi Robin! yes I would have loved to have been pg. But I am so happy to know for sure and to start fresh. the not knowing was definitely the worst part about going off bc, I was surprised how much it messed up my hormones. I'm the prime example of why drs say to wait a few months before ttc after stopping bc. I was never convinced by the bfn's, so hard to whole heartedly believe without seeing af... If I did it over I would wait a few months for af to resume on its own before ttc (I'd use protection during that time). I am sure the uncertainty and stress contributed greatly to the delay

I wish you ALL the best!!! baby dust to those who are trying!!!
