How reliable are Home Pregnancy Tests?
| Wed, 09-19-2007 - 7:59am |
Hi everyone,
I am wondering how reliable you have found Home Pregnancy Tests to be? My period was due around September 14 or 15 and I am still waiting to get it. For days now my back has been hurting and my breasts have been tender. I have had a bit of spotting but nothing substantial. My husband and I did have unprotected sex a couple of times after my last period last month. I took a Home Pregnancy test but it came out negative. It could be that my period is just a bit late this month and I'm having some drawn out PMS symptoms, but I'm starting to wonder.
Any thoughts? Thanks!

Don't be scared - it is so much fun and an adventure.
Aaargh! My husband is going to Rhode Island tonight (we live in Massachusetts) to visit some old friends tonight, and then tomorrow I'm going to visit an old friend in Boston!! I will see him tomorrow morning before I leave, so I will have to think of something. We do have a dog and we love her like she is our little baby, so maybe I'll put a little bonnet on her or something. Hee-Hee. I do like the idea of the bun in the oven. Maybe I can do that tommorrow morning for his breakfast. He never eats breakfast, so that would be funny. He would be like "What the hell??"
I am scared, but mostly excited. I am very lucky that this happened so quickly with very little effort! Now, fingers crossed that everything goes smoothly. Thanks so much for your support and advice! I will definitely keep you posted!
Everytime I read another post I get excited! ha ha I'm such a dork! :)
Anyway, that sucks that he is going RI - errr! You can't keep this in for very long and you want him to be the first to know (besides us on here).
Well, some sad news on my end. Friday I started cramping a little so I called my doctor and they referred me to an OB/GYN. Right after work, I went in and they took my blood. Friday night and saturday morning I was bleeding alot more and I knew something was wrong. Then I just started feeling awful, like I was getting my period but ten times worse. I called the doctor-on-call and he told me my HCG level was extremely low, only 32, and basically I had been pregnant, but wasn't anymore. By the end of the day, my cramps had eased and I'm still bleeding, but it's not as much as it usually is during a normal period.
I'm pretty bummed out this morning. What a tease. My husband said it was a good sign that I conceived right away and I hope he's right. I just hope now it doesn't take a year to conceive again. Talking to then nurse the other day, she made it all so real and gave me a due date of May 23rd. I was so excited because my birthday is in May also. I know it will all be okay. My husband and I just started trying and never in my wildest dreams did I think it would happen so fast, so I guess this just gives us more time to have fun trying.

I'm so sorry, but you have a great attitude about it.
Thanks for your support. I'm feeling pretty depressed this morning, but at least physically I am feeling much better.
I just don't know how to look at this: it's good that we conceived so fast, but is this a sign of troubles to come? I hope not. I'm anxious to start trying again.
I'll keep my chin up and keep trying. It's so hard when your friends are getting pregnant all around you.
On another note, I don't understand why there is a red flag next to my message. I didn't do that!

The red flag just means that this discussion is of high importance to you (as in you responded to it so you might want to check it out again).
Yeah, keep your
