How soon can you test?

I am wondering if I may be pregnant? My last period started on Oct. 19th and so it is too soon for me to have missed my period but I have felt queasy, tired, hungry, dizzy, had frequent headaches, lower back pain, and I have had to urinate often. I know that most of these are signs of pregnancy but they are signs of a million other things too, how do you know!?! My husband and I have been trying but only for a couple of months (although I have not been on birth control for the last 8 months-I have just been watching my cycle).

When is the soonest you can test???? I really just want to KNOW!

Hi mindy lou sumens,

I think it's different with all women. Some women get a positive as early as 7dpo (day past ovulation)/(conception). Others keep getting negatives a week (or more!) past the the time their period was expected.

I'm now 13dpo, and have tested twice and still get negatives. AF (period) is due tomorrow, and who knows... it might be negative, might be positive, I could be pregnant, or could not be. It's a big confusing and frustrating thing! I sure am frustrated.

But, most recommend just waiting until the day after (at least) your period is due to test. Then you'd be more likely to get a positive. And less likely to get frustrated!

Good luck!

According to the personal pregnancy calendar on this site...the placenta begins forming a day before AF is due so testing too early would definately give you a neg. result. This would explain all those frustrated women who feel pregnant, test too early and get neg. results

Well, I tested a whole week before AF was expected and got a positive result with my daughter. ;) Maybe I ovulate early or something, but I know it's possible to get a positive really early. I used the first response test - and that's what I'm going to use this week because I think I might be again!!! ;)
