Hi All,

I am going to be 45 next month. My periods have been regularly 24-28 day cycles no later then 28 they last 5 days. I was sick with bronchitis about a month ago & I lost 10lbs while I was sick. My last date of my period was 01/30/11 on 02/05/11(last day of my period) & 02/17 I had unprotected sex. I was spotting brown discharge on 02/12-15/11. My breasts are growing and very tender, my nipples have clear discharge if I squeeze them haven't seen that in years, I have cramping but more like twinges, I feel slightly nauseated, yesterday I started having light headiness dizziness when bending over or standing, I feel bloated, I have noticed I have to pee a little more then my norm, and I have been very thirsty and my appetite has increased. I am not on medications, haven't recently stopped taking birth control. I haven't been under any stress. I have started taking vitamins recently but just your regular stuff Centrum, vitamin d, folic acid and niacin. I have taken 4 HPT tests all negative on 02/26/11, 03/03/11 and 03/06/11 and today. I had a doctors appointment today, he is doing HCG Serum Test but says we wont know results for a week. I am not wishing for pregnancy although I always wanted another child but if anything I am nervous to be at my age as I was when I had my one and only child at age 17 she is 27 and has 2 children of her own. I was divorced 8 months ago and started dating again someone I have known a long time. Wasn't thinking about birth control because of my age. Could this be hormonal? Just curious has anyone else had this problem and found out they were pregnant even though they tested negative? If I am according to what I have calculated I would be 6 weeks along right now...

Hello and welcome to the board! I can understand why you are confused. It certainly does sound like you are experiencing many of the symptoms of pregnancy. I've heard of ladies never getting a positive urine test but their blood test coming back positive.

There are also many other reasons your period could start becoming irregular. Here is an article on iVillage that has some really great information about missing or irregular periods that you may find helpful:

Wishing you the very best of luck. Please keep us posted on what you find out at the doctor today!
