I've never been to this particular ivillage board, so please accept my apology for just dropping in! I hope someone here can help.

I was late on my period this last week and had some of the signs of pregnancy (I have one son, he's nine though! It's been a while.) I took a test and it came up positive. DH and I accepted it, started to get excited, started discussing plans, etc. and then two days later I got my period, or what seemed to be my period. I now have a moderate to heavy flow, relatively normal for me, and cramps and breast tenderness has gone down considerably---also a normal period symptom for me.

So, I took two more tests today, two different brands and both came up positive. Color me confused and officially emotionally spent. I don't know what to think now. I know some people have periods through their pregnancy, so, am I pregnant? Or is this a question only my doctor can answer? ;)

I guess what I'm asking is, has anyone here ever been pregnant AND had their period? The part that really bothers me is if I'd waited just a few days and not taken that test, I would assume this is my period and that I wasn't pregnant. But what if I really am! *sigh* I'm so frustrated.

I recently went thru same thing. Had no idea I was pregnant when I went to Dr. The Dr. sent me to have blood test done and then back again for blood test 2 days later. If the hormone count was going up then it was a viable pregnancy. If that comes back positive then will probably have a early a/s done to be sure baby is in uterus.

Thanks so much for replying!

I haven't made an appointment yet. Unfortunately, my OBGYN moved out of town just two months ago and I haven't found a new doctor yet. I guess I'll have to start there on Monday. Or perhaps speak with my family physician first just to get a more official test.

Thanks again for chiming in! It makes me feel better knowing that this sort of thing has happened to someone else. I just wish I could call a doctor now and have the definite answer today. I hate waiting! ;)

Yes, it does help! Thanks for replying! I guess at this point I'll have to wait for a doctor's appointment to get the official answer.
