Immune System Decrease?

I have a question. I'm about 8dpo and two days ago I began getting this NASTY cold, which then blossomed into full blown strep throat (and ears). I'm on anti-biotics for it now, but I got to wondering and did some research.
I've been reading around the Internet and found that many many women who turn out to be pregnant, get colds around the time of implantation. I'm not assuming this in my own situation, since it's quite an assumption to make, but I was wondering if there's ANY merit in this claim.
Does the body's immune system actually DECREASE around the time of implantation so the white blood cells do not attack the implanting embryo? If so, then that would make sense that many women get sick around implantation and mistake that illness for a "pregnancy symptom."
What do you all think?

This is just my opinion based on my own experience though.
Also, I'm sorry that your sick and I hope you feel better soon.

Thanks! I just was wondering since I googled it and found that there are some women that actually miscarry because their immune system DOES NOT decrease enough to allow the embryo time to implant and the maternal immunity to kick in. I though it would be an interesting topic to discuss nonetheless.
I have a 6 year old daughter and I also never got a cold or any type of cold symptoms with her. As a matter of fact, the only symptom I got with her was missing my period. LOL
