Implantation & blood test?????

How many days does it take from implantation until you can get a positive with a blood test? What about with a hpt? Just wondering.... I would REALLY appreciate your input! :)
Linda

hi! my dr told me your body starts producing hcg right after implantation so you can get an accurate blood result very quickly. she said a yes/no blood test should come out as early as 6 days after conception (which would be right at the time of implantation). Although as you know all women are different blah blah blah some take longer yada yada
you should be able to get an accurate hpt result by the time of your missed period about 2 wks after ovulation for most women. some can get a result as early as 9 dpo
wishing you baby dust!!
I'll share my long, sorry tale. :) Ok, I was due for af on Sunday. I'm very regular. My dh was saying some funny comment about me being pregnant again (we are not trying, but I would be very happy :) ). SO I started getting suspicious when af didn't show up. Monday morning I took a test and it was bfn. I took another one Tuesday morning since I af still hadn't showed up. Another bfn. Later that morning I had light cramping as I was still in bed and thought "Oh, here she comes," but no, I had the tiniest drop of blood when I wiped (and I wiped very meticulously, lol!). So the next morning (Wednesday) I take my last test and another bfn. But no af. I call my doctor and get to take a blood test Wednesday afternoon. Thursday it came back negative and I'm 99.99% sure I.m not pregnant. But af has still not showed up. Are there any other reasons for af not showing. If I didn't ovulate at all this month, what was the cramping and spotting all about? And if I ovulated late (which is more probable) could the bleeding on Tuesday be implantation bleeding and the blood test just couldn't pick up the hcg (I didn't ask the lab whether they use qualitative or quantitative tests)? Well, I have light cramping now and very sore nipples that are unusual for me (just like I had with dd). Sorry for this long post. Hopefully there are some wise women out there who could help me... :)

hi Linda, hmmmm sounds very suspicious with those symptoms not to mention the fact that you are usually very regular. If the spotting was implantation bleeding I think that your blood test would have shown an accuarate result but I can't say for sure (probably the qualitative would be better than quantitative). Did your dr order any other bloodwork or just check for hcg?
here's my story in case it helps -- I'm 28 yrs old, I've had 2 easy successful pg's in recent years then went on bc after ds#2. I never had problems with af before now. I haven't started af since going off bc and it's been over 3 months now, my dr ran bloodwork for me to check my thyroid and pituitary glands. she also put me on provera but it doesn't sound like you're at that point yet!!!
to respond to your question-- she did say that there are many factors that could cause a late o or no ovulation. some of the things she mentioned would be stress, rapid weight change, major change in exercise routine (none of these are a problem for me, but does this fit for you?) Also she talked about hormonal stuff that's why she's checking thyroid & pituitary glands just to make sure since they can affect ovulation. I asked her about cysts and she said it would be unlikely that was the reason I'm not getting af, but maybe that's something you want to ask your dr when you call to follow up. I should start af after I finish 10 days of Provera then I'm going to use OPK to see if I'm ovulating (provera will just start af, it does not induce ovulation).
A lot of the symptoms you are describing could be symptoms of so many different things going on, all hormone related... but trust your instincts and if you feel like you are pg I would keep testing, or at least stay persistent with your dr till you figure out what's going on
Well I hope some of this maybe helped a little bit... did you get af yet?
best of luck and keep us posted!
Thank you so much for your response! :) To answer some of your questions: no, af has not showed up yet (six days late now...), I don't fall into any of the other categories (exercise, weight loss etc) and I haven't been on the pill for over two years (before we had dd). Since I'm having the cramps, sore nipples and moodiness, which can be either pms or prgnancy symptoms, it seems unlikely that I didn't ovulate at all, so it's a bit of a mystery. As for my hormone levels, they've always been very normal (at least that I know of) and I've been very regular before and after the pill. But I guess there could be something with my hormone levels... I'm very confused. I have an appointment on Monday, so I guess I'll ask the doctor about it. I never asked whether the blood test was a quantitative or qualitative test. I read at peeonastick.com that it can sometimes take up to four days for the embryo to implant all the way, but I guess that's a bit rare. Well, thanks for your help! :) If you have any more input to give me based on this new info, lol, I would be VERY grateful!! :) :)
