Implantation cramping?

I know that I Oed on Tuesday, August 14. I was charting and using an OPK. Both said the same thing (thankfully). We Bded in perfect timing.
Question #1: All day today I have had menstrual-like cramps. From what I've ready 5 days is early for implantation, but is it possible? My cycle is usually 26 days and I Oed on day 12. That puts today as day 17.
And question #2: Does anyone know how long after implantation you start to get measurable amounts of hcg? I have a feeling I'm turning into a POAS fanatic and want to know the earliest point of starting that process. I bought some of the cheap internet tests so I can afford to waste some on the "hope of what might be."
And finally #3: Does anyone know if a heating pad to relieve the cramping would harm anything (if there even is anything)? I know men are to avoid hot tubs and other heat sources as they can kill sperm. I just didn't know if they would put a possibly fertilized egg at risk.
Thanks for whatever help you can give...

ohhh.. I hope you get that positive very soon.
I would say that crampy like feelings is very normal. It also feels like af is coming. Then again, I'm not sure how early you should expect to feel it. I just remember this feeling right around the time I tested.
As for HCG, i'm really not sure when it is measureable. It all depends on each person and each pregnancy and type of hpt. Most doctors really want people to wait until their missed period to take a test, then again a lot of tests allow a person to take it up to 5 days before. I NEVER had any luck doing that way. The earliest I've ever had a positive was maybe 2 days.
As for the heating pad. I'm really not sure. I know that when you're pregnant you're told you shouldn't in in hot tubs, etc. But I used heating pads when my back killed me during my pregnancy. I guess it's completely up to you. If you do use it, make sure it doesn't get to hot and that it's not on for a long amount of time.
So, we're on pretty much a very similar cycle AND I have been having cramping as well. Now, I do get really bad cramps when my period comes, but I never ever get them THIS early. The only difference is that it feels very "light." Like it resembles menstrual cramps but it's just barely there, kind of like a tickling. It's very odd!!
I'm praying that you get that BFP!!!!
Thanks for your reply.
today, the cramping seems to be gone, so we will wait to see what tests tell us later. I did make it without the heating pad, so hopefully I'm good now that the cramps seem to be gone.
I'll keep you posted...
