Irregular periods/pregnancy symptoms
Fri, 10-10-2003 - 12:00pm
Hello! This may be longish, but I hope someone out there can help me figure this out, or has had a similar experience. I have had irregular and very mild periods since I was 17 after losing too much weight from an eating disorder. I have been a healthy weight now for about 5 years, and I eat very well and heartily. I have also taken blood tests to test for hormonal levels - they were normal. I got on the pill a couple of times (for about a year each time) to help regulate it, but I stopped taking the pill last December. Since then, I have had one period in May. Also, in June a doctor advised me to try cutting my running down to see if my period would return and remain regular - which I did pretty radically. Anyways, in August I had very strong pregnancy symptoms (extreme bloating, nausea, tiredness, tender breasts, brown around the nipples, and slight spotting a couple of days early on). I took two pregnancy tests - both neg - so I went to the hospital 10 days after the symptoms began. I had a blood test done (neg), though the doctor thought because of my history that I could have cysts - so I was given an ultrasound the next day and everything was normal...a day after that the symptoms just stopped. Now, 4 weeks later the symptoms started again (for a week now) with more nausea than before but no spotting at all this time....(thanks for your patience if you have read this far!)...I took a preg test at home and it was neg. Could I be pregnant, or is this some adjustment thing my body is undergoing because of the changes I have made? Thanks to all who respond!

Sincerely, Trish
