IUD & Pregnancy Question
| Wed, 09-06-2006 - 4:35pm |
I have a question, I was hoping someone might be able to help me. I have the Mirena IUD, and for the past 5 days I've been having terrible cramping in my left ovary area. I called my OB and they scheduled an ultrasound for tomorrow to see if I had an ovarian cyst. Well today I started having the really bad cramping on my right side too. So then I was kinda baffled and didn't know what to think. Well, just on a whim I happend to buy a cheapo pregnancy test just to take to be sure that I didn't end up pregnant somehow. Well, I took the test this morning, and at first glance I was pretty sure it was negative. I left the room and came back a few minutes later and grabbed it off the counter to throw away and it was very faintly positive. I kept staring at because I thought I was seeing things LOL So now I'm concerned. I don't have a period because I have the IUD, so I can't say I've actually missed a period. Does anyone have any experience with anything like this? I'm not really sure what to think. Any advice or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated. TIA

I reccomend to get it taken out. Just an opinion going off of my experiences and friends.
I had the mirena IUD in for a year and a half. I didn't have the problems you are having so I don't have any advice for ya there. But I did get a positive pg test with mine and had it removed. Two days later, I m/c. They say it is a great possibility for that to happen. Like you, I had not period with mine in, so I had no idea when I concieved. The IUD is just like every other birth control, it is only 99.99% effective. But get checked out with your dr. There have been studies that show a delayed reaction with them. You may be one of the few. Keep us updated.

I got pg with my daughter with an IUD in place. I was shocked! I had implantation spotting around the time AF was due but AF never came. My pg was normal after they removed the IUD. If you got a faint positive, I would go to you doctor and have them do a pg test too to be sure. Best wishes!
