Neg HPT after Pos HPT - PLEASE read!!!

Hi ladies -

I'm really, really scared and confused right now, and I could use some help. My DH and I have been TTC for 12 cycles now, and this past Tuesday I started getting + HPTs. I used Target brand, EPT, and the New Clearblue Digital. The first two were very faint +, but the digital (obviously) gave me a clear "Pregnant." I kept testing over the past few days, and kept getting positives with the Target and EPTs. This morning I had an appointment with my OB/GYN, and just for the heck of it I decided to test with my last digital. I got a "Not Pregnant", and the two urine tests at the doctor's came back negative, also. The doctor sent me for bloodwork, and it came back "Undetermined"... it says I'm pregnant, but I'm right on the border line.

Has anyone EVER had this happen and still had a normal, healthy pregnancy? We've been trying for so long, and we've been so excited this week, until today. I'm scared to death now that we're losing this baby... if the results had come back as negative today, it would have been horrible, but at least I would have known. Now I have to wait and see what happens over the weekend. And to make matters worse, our wedding anniversary is tomorrow.

I still have my pg symptoms... sore breasts, hungry, nausea here and there, lower backache... but I haven't been having any weird cramps or spotting or anything.

Please, if anyone out there has had this type of scenario end well, PLEASE let me know. It would make a world of difference to my weekend. Thank you so much.

~ Jackie

The only advice I have is to take a hpt for the next few mornings with fmu. If they are all neg I don't think that's a good sign. I Will keep you in my p&pts.

Ps. It took me over 2 years to have my beautiful little girl. I have faith that it will happen for you also. Good luck.

Well, I did another EPT (not digital) with FMU this morning, and there's a definite line... it's thin - not as wide as the control line - and not as dark, but definitely there. I guess all I can do is wait and hope. Thanks again, everyone, for all your prayers and kind words.

I'll try and keep you all updated this weekend if anything new developes.

Love,
Jackie

Jackie -

It's a good sign that you got another + this morning. I know this is easier said then done, but try to do things to take your mind off of it until tomorrow when you can test again.

Be patient. I'v read from several women who had low HCG levels at first.

Good Luck,
Sam

I just had the same thing happen to me. I tested with the ClearBlue Early Detection POAS last night and I got a very very faint positive and the line was very thin. I saw the line within a minute so it's definitely not an evap line. This line is really thin, much thinner than the control line and faint but it is blue, not grey like an evap line would be.

In my excitement, I decided to take a test this morning to confirm (I'm at day 25 of my cycle) and I got a negative. I don't know what to think. I'm going to retest on either Monday or Wednesday and see what happens.

Has anyone else ever had this happen?

Your best bet would be to get serial quantitative (not qualitative because those just say pg, not pg, quants give you and actual number to follow) blood tests from your OB usually 2-3 days apart. This way they can make sure that your HCG numbers are doubling as expected. Your first blood test may have just been early enough after implantation that the HCG levels hadn't had that much time to climb yet - giving you an indeterminate so doing serial quants will let you see what the levels are and that they are rising. I know how hard what you are going through is and the waiting is by far the worst part. It took me over 2 years to concieve DS, but in the long run it is worth all the heartache so hang in there. I'm hoping things work out well for you and am sending you tons of sticky baby vibes.

Hi all -

No real news to report here. I had the second blood test done today, but it was done at my regular lab and they won't have the results to the doctor until tomorrow. They said to call after 11:00 to play it safe, which is fine with me. I take lunch from 11 - 12, and I go home for lunch, so I can call from there and have some privacy.

On the bright side, everything has remained stable over the weekend. Boobs are still achy, I'm tired as all get-out, and I'm peeing at least once an hour!! HPTs are still coming up positive (even the digital...Yay!) so we're keeping our fingers crossed that maybe it WAS just really early. We'll find out tomorrow!

Love,
Jackie
