New Here! Need Advice-Depressed! BFN :-(

Hello everyone. I am new here. Let me introduce myself. I am 22 and my name is Erin. I am so confused right now. There is a very good possibility that I could be pregnant right now and I was so excited! However, all the tests don’t agree.  I have had my period since I was 12 years old and have always been very regular. I usually always get my period every 28 days. Every once in awhile I will have a 27 day cycle or a 29 day cycle. I am now two weeks late. On the day that I missed my period I took an HPT and it was a BFN. The next day (2 days late) I went to the doctors for something else and he wanted to give me medicine for it and asked if there was a chance I could be pregnant because if so, they shouldn’t give me this medicine. I said “well yes as a matter of fact I could be.” I then took a qualitative (yes/no)pregnancy blood test which was a BFN. I have read so many posts where women say “ I am so late for my period and I am always regular but the tests are BFN” but nobody ever says what the outcome ended up being? I am just so frustrated because I know my body(or at least I thought I did) and somethings just not right. What are the odds that the one month I have unprotected sex around my fertile days that my period would be late? I called me OB/GYN and they told me to take another HPT and if it is a BFN then to come in for another blood test(the other one was given at my primary doctors). I just don’t get it? Wouldn’t a blood test have picked it up then if I was pregnant the first time I took it? Aren’t they more sensitive than HPTs? Any advice would be great. Thanks Also I must say that I don’t have any symptoms whatsoever…which is a good sign that my period is not on its way but a bad sign that I’m probably not pregnant.

iam in your boat right now erin. wondering. i have never been this late, and no bleeding in sight, so what could it be? it's killing me not knowing, cause though i haven't had a blood test yet, all urine tests turn out negative, and i'd also like to hear stories, of women, who have gotten negative tests, and ended up turning out pregnant. i hear it does happen, so it would be encouraging.

iam going to make an appt for a blood test as well. keep me posted on your situation, and i will do the same on mine. i gues your dr. must think it possible if he's ordering another blood test right? iam on day 9 of no period, and this is the most bizarre thing i have ever had happen to me. best of luck, hopefully we will find encouragement here!

((hugs))

To answer your question about the blood test, if it was a qualitative (yes/no) test the first time, it may have been too soon for it to show.
