Newbie Question

Hi all – I am new to the board and just have two quick questions for everyone here. . . I am 8 days late, which is odd for me – normally I am like clockwork! I took a pg test this morning – came out negative. I have had a pretty stressful month and have heard that that can screw with your cycle, although it never has for me before. Ok to my question, do you think I could be pregnant and if so – when should I re-test? My second question is this, I used EPT – has anyone else used and had false negatives with it at all. Trying not to stress but worried – help?!? Thanks! :)

Are you pg? It all depends on your cycle. When did you O and if you BD then. Stress can certainly play a role in delaying AF. If AF doesn't show in a few days, I would retest. If you don't start in a week you may want your doc to do a blood hcg test. I have no experience with the hpt's out there. Hope this helps and good luck.

Thanks Pinky. I honestly don't know when I ovulated - we aren't trying right now. The only thing that I do track is my AF dates. It's hard not to stress about this. My husband is a little freaked out - and worried of course. We are having a rough few months and this would not be the "best" time to get pg, but when is right? I just want to know! Part of me wants ++++ and my logical part says --- we'll see. Thanks so much for your advice.

I know from experience that stress can delay or stop AF from coming. I am totally regular every 28 days and it has happened to me before. Good luck! I hope it turns out how you want it.

Take care, Krista

Hi Meghann, I went almost 3 weeks after a missed period with a negative pregnancy test, but I knew deep inside I was pregnant. I waited a couple days and I tested again, and I did end up getting a positive line, but it was VERY faint. My faint line was just born 2 weeks ago! =)

Hope that helps and good luck to you!

Hi there,

During my first pregnancy I did 5 hpt's up until I was two weeks late for AF. All of them were -. I went to the doctor's and they did a blood test that came back +. I was 6 weeks pregnant. My doctor told me that sometimes the HCG levels just are not high enough to show up in a urine test. You should go see your doctor. Good luck!

Good luck to you -- I agree with previous post. I was 7 days late, and we were careful that month (although I wasn't on BC)AND my husband and I had actually decided to hold off for awhile. I tested just to be sure I was not PG, and since it was negative we all went out drinking! I even got in a hot tub. YIKES! Thankfully, my 2 1/2 year old son is beautiful and healthy. I hope all works out for the best one way or the other.

meghann,

I took four on my own within a week's timeframe and all appeared to be negative. It wasn't until I called my doctor and they gave me a test that I learned that I was! The problem was that I drink a lot of water and the over the counter tests weren't sensetive enough to catch it.

Good luck!

Hello everyone. I went to BirthChoice here in town and they did a urine test that came back negative. The volunteer there told me that the woman that was in before me had the same thing happen to her a few weeks ago (2) and came back because she still did not have her period and today she had tested positive. I can't wait two weeks to find out! Do any of you know places that you can get a blood test - without insurance and not pay a million dollars? Two weeks - is she crazy? Thanks again.
