I was wondering if there were any tests out there that let you do the test before the first missed period. I've been on the pill for about 4 months now, I take it religiously, but the past few days I have been feeling a bit weird and what concerns me most is the strange feeling I have in my abdomen. I'm not sure if this could be due to all the stress I've been under or if it's pregnancy or what. What kind of risk of pregnancy is there if I had unprotected sex the day before my period? I'm pretty sure it's relatively low, but I tend to get over anxious about things like this. Other than that one day, my partner and I have used a condom as a sort of extra insurance against getting pregnant for the past 2 months. If anyone could calm my fears about this it would be greatly appreciated.

Like you said, you have a relatively low chance of being pregnant. The most fertile time for you is when you are ovulating. Ovulation usually occurs midway through your cycle. I would recommend using a condom all of the time. There is no point in only using them every once in a while. After all, that is not safe sex. Being on birth control suppresses your ovulation. Most oral birth control pills are 99% effective. You cannot get pregnant if you do not ovulate. I am guessing there is slim to no chance you are pregnant. There is an early detection pregnancy test out there called First Response. You can test up to four days before your expected period. The amount of detectable HCG(the pregnancy hormone) increases more and more each day after your missed period if you are pregnant. I wish you the best of luck.

What is the risk of pregnancy if you have unprotected sex the day before your period? - Zero. You typically ovulate 12-16 days before your period arrives. The cycle works like this: CD1 is the start of AF, you O some period of time later (for a "perfect" 28 day cycle, around day 14 or so), then you have a 12-16 day "luteal phase." By the day before your period, your egg is long gone and you are not fertile.

If you still feel symptoms, you can try testing with any of the "early" variety pregnancy tests. Look for boxes that say "early result" on them, as well as "test before a missed period." Many women use First Response Early Result, and EPT makes an "early" variety as well.

Good luck to you!
