odd periods

Hi, I am new to this and am really confused about what's happening to my body. I got my period about a week early last month. At first I started to spot pink/brown blood and I guessed it was because of the slightly rough sex I had with my boyfriend the night before...we hadn't seen each other for a long time. Then by the evening of the next day, I was really bleeding heavy pink. After that day the bleeding started to progress like a regular period from then on - could it be the heavy bleeding was due to the "rough" nature...and the early period was due to time zone crossings that I took to see my boyfriend?
Now, this month I got my period early again..I'm usually on a 26-28 day cycle but this time I got my period at 21 days. I bled a lot (more than usual) the first and second day - and heavy cramps. I usuallly bleed the most on the second day and the bleeding gradually decreases over 6 days. However, I'm on my fourth day now and my third and fourth days were like there was no bleeding - just slight brown spotting. What could be happening? My boyfriend and I had unprotected sex only once and that was the day right after the early period I had when I visited him. Is it possible that I'm pregnant?
I don't have signs of veins on my breasts...they were very tender about a week after I had the unprotected sex....any ideas or suggestions you have are very appreciated! I've been stressed out and travelling across time zones and within the time zone in the last 2 months...so could it all just be stress? I was diagnosed with anemia in the Fall and have been taking iron pills. My periods are usually very regular...:(
Thank you so much in advance for your time...and advice...

Chances are you had an anovulatory cycle, a cycle where you don't ovulate. They are extremely common, even in women who normally have regular cycles, and especially if you've been under a lot of stress. Heavier bleeding can also be attributed to an anov cycle and is completely normal. As long as your cycles normalize you have nothing to worry about. If you continue to have very short or very long cycles, call your doc.

Thank you for your reply...I'll see how next month goes and mention it to my doctor when I have a check up this week.

Thanks for your time - it helps to know I'm not alone.
