Oops...Did I get pregnant?

Hi,

I'm hoping that what I'm feeling is just hormonal. Here's the scoop. I've been on nuvaring for about a year. I started my last cycle on March 14 and was supposed to insert a new ring on the 18th. Due to lack of communication with my doctor/appointment changes, etc., I didn't get a new ring until April 3rd at which time I immediately inserted it. However, during those two weeks in between, my DH and I weren't as cautious. Now, I'm having what feels like ovulation or menstrual cramps and my breast are so sore, I don't even want to hug anyone. Right about now is when my new cycle would've been starting, so I don't know if I could be pregnant or if its just my hormones out of whack. Should I wait to test or do it now? So nervous and confused...

Update...I took a pg test this morning and it was negative. My breast are still extremely sore and I feel like I'm about to get a visit from aunt flow. In the past when I've had a scare like this, once I get a negative result, my symptoms almost instantly disappear. But, this time, it's not just in my head. It could be hormonal, maybe from the break in using my bc, but I don't know. My annual visit with the OBGYN is May 1, so I guess I'll see what happens then...

I have had disruptions in birth control that have caused major breast tenderness, exactly like you describe. I thought I could be pregnant also since I always hear about breast tenderness being a telltale symptom, but it was just hormones. While it's possible you could be pregnant and just took the test too early, I think it's probably your body reacting to the change in hormone levels.

I sure hope so. Not that I don't want to have kids, buy DH and I aren't planning on having any soon. I think it is too early to tell, though. I'm just going to wait and see if my period comes on schedule and if not, I'll test again. Thanks for the response.
