OPK's as HPT's??

Hi all, my name is Stephanie (32) and I *might* be preggers with #4. So...onto my question, has anyone ever heard of using OPK's about a week after O to test for pregnancy? I heard about this on another board (not on PP) and this girl said she used an OPK on 7 dpo and got a + and then used an HPT on 10 dpo and got a + as well. I read this article that says that you can use them since LH and HCG are only a 'strain' apart in the world of fertility.

Anyway, has anyone tried this? Is this a bunch of crap? Am I a freak for even considering this, lol? I just *need* to know if I am pg or not because I need to be prepared for the nervous breakdown that will follow should I be pg! :o)

Btw, I did do the OPK thing and I am 7 dpo today and it showed an *almost* positive, meaning the test line was pretty much the same color as the control line. If I'm not pg why would it be telling me I'm about to O when I know that I O'd last Saturday??

TIA!

Hugs,

Stephanie

I also heard you can use an OPK to test for pregnancy. If you got a + then I would get a HPT to confirm but it does sound like you are.

Good luck!

That is very interesting and I wonder if it holds true... I got a very, very faint BFP this morning and I may try to use one just to see what happens (I have 5 left over from this months detection)... thanks for the info. If it shows two lines, I will post it and let you know if I am prego (testing with HPT either tomorrow or Monday morning!)

Happy baby making!!!

I have also heard of this and have tried it myself. I have a 35 day cycle and ovulated on CD23. I used a OPK on CD32 (9dpo) and got a positive. Today, CD35, I got my period. So, apparently this does not work for everyone. I do not understand why I got a +OPK. The only reason i can come up with is that OPKs can test for pregnancy so early that it will even pick up chemical pregnancies and pregnancies that were meant to miscarry. I hope that it works for you, though. best of luck.
