Hi there...welcome to the board. It's hard to really say how your breasts are "supposed" to be during pregnancy, since all women, and even all pregnancies, are different. Some women do notice little bumps on their breasts when they're pregnant. Are you late for your period yet? If you are, take a test to find out for sure if you're pregnant or not before you jump to any comclusions. Usually doctors won't see you until you're about 8 weeks pregnant. Of course they may want to see you to confirm pregnancy. Or if you haven't got your period and still are getting negatives on hpts, they might want to see you to do a blood test.
Always feel free to post any questions, concerns or anything here if you need to. Good luck, and please keep us posted

Hi Marsha_queen,
I was 19 when I got pregnant so I can understand your fears. I now have a healthy, beautiful 5 year old daughter. To answer your questions:
Breast Changes: All women experience different breast changes throughout pregnancy. The most common are very sore or tingly/itchy nipples, sore and/or swolen breasts, the breasts may feel bigger or heavier, the veins in your breasts become more noticible, the little bumps (called Montgomery's Tubules) become more prominent and more abundant, and the areola may get darker. Most women have breast soreness/tenderness prior to menstruating.
Cramping: Some women do experience cramping both in the back and in the abdomen. As long as it isn't a sharp, stabbing constant pain, minor cramping during pregnancy is okay. Any cramping that you're unsure of should be brought to the attention of your doctor.
Bloating: Most women experience bloating as a symptom of PMS as well as pregnancy.
I would suggest waiting 3 days to a week and retesting. I would definitely call my doctor if your period doesn't show after a week.
Good luck and we're here to help if you need it!
Heidi

From what I remember from my experience, the doctor does give you a pap smear, even if you've had one recently, so they can screen you for any STD's or infections. They also may draw blood (if there's a lab on site) or give you an order to have your blood drawn so they can confirm the pregnancy via a blood test. They'll ask you your LMP (Last Menstrual Period) and give you a tentative due date based on that. They usually prescribe prenatal vitamins. They'll go over a healthy diet and advise you to eat foods rich in calcium (the developing baby leeches calcium from your bones and teeth) and folic acid.
When you go for your ultrasound (usually around 12-16 weeks) they'll confirm the due date based on the size of the baby in your womb. It's pretty uneventful, except for the blood tests (which I hate).
Nothing really to be afraid of or anything...
