hi, I posted before but noone replied but i still have the same prob..

I am on the pill i had a very short period (less than a day) I took two preg tests. the first neg. the later one seemd to be neg but when i took it in different light i noticed a faint line I assumed this was just because of the delay (about 5 mins) and thought i wasnt preg. iam about a week into my nbext pack and feeling sick, I have also had dizzy spells. and a few other srtange symptoms

I read recently that the pill can delay ovulation... would this cause a test taken early in my pill free week to be negative?

the only other thing is that about 5 days before my period I had a very stiff side for a few hours. Since then i have had mild cramps very low down on my stomach,

did i do the wrong thing by assuming the test was negative and restarting my pills?

and could the pill really casue a test to be taken too early?

Test again now. You should get an accurate reading by now.

When I was on the pill, I had a few instances where I did not have a period or had an extremely light period. What I found out was that it is really quite common. Most pills are designed to give you periods. But because the pill is designed to prevent ovulation, periods don't always happen. I know, not very comforting. If the pill did fail, it would be hard to tell for certain when you ovulated. If you missed a pill, it would more likely than not be around that time.

So, with that, I would say test in a week after your period was due, than again a week later. If they are both negative, I would let your health-care provider know. S/he might want to do a blood test, s/he might not. Either way, try not to fret. Chances are not so big that you are pregnant if you are on the pill and not getting positives.

Also note, it's important to try to take the pill at the same time everyday, preferably in the evening. And use alternate protection if you are on antibiotics.

Hope everything turns out the way you want.

Yours,

Kate

Thanks for replying, do you think that the positive test was an actual psotive result or a false positive...i.e was it too faint to be a positive (as I assumed)

Hi

I hate that I do not have "the" answers for you. However, I became pregnant while on the pill with my first child. He is perfectly fine, but it is extrememly important that you not take any more of your pills if you think that you may in fact be pregnant!!! Definitely call your doctor to get a blood test and let him/her know what is going on.

The pill is very harmful to a little one developing within...and it's better to be safe than sorry. By the way, I was pregnant and didn't know it and continued to take my pills for almost 3 weeks!!! And he's fine...in 2nd grade now...gifted even! So do not worry about the pills already taken, just STOP until you know for sure!

Good Luck!!!
