Hello! I am curious about the kinds of symptoms women on birth control pills get when pregnant. I am on OTC and wondering whether the symptoms are the same as non pill users or if there are any other symptoms that occur. Any advice/input would be very helpful! Thanks a bunch.

Hi! I have no idea what the symptoms are...just wanted you to know that I'm in the same situation as you are (only I'm on Yasmin instead of OTC). I've been having some strange symptoms for a few weeks now (even spotting) and took a pregnancy test last week- it came back negative, but it could have been too early to tell. I have a re-test next week...and I don't know if I should be, but I'm still taking my pills. We'll wait on a reply together.

I am in the same boat as you I am also taking yasmin here is my story,

I am a 22 year old, I started my period on Tuesday but it was really light and the blood was brown. My period is allways really heavy the first couple of day's and is bright red but this time I couldn't even wear a tampon because there wasn't that much blood so I wore a pad and I probably could get by wearing a panty liner but anyway I also was passing a bunch of clots when I wipe which is unusual and I didn't have hardly any cramps which I always am in a lot of pain the first two-three day's. So I called my doctor just to be on the safe side and her nurse told me it's nothing to worry about but then 2 hours later she called me back and told me the doctor suggested I take a pregnancy test in the morning which came back negative. On Thursday afternoon there wasn't anything on the pad only when I wipe but it stopped on Friday afternoon, so I'm not sure if this was my period or not or if it's what they call implantation bleeding because my period was brown the whole time, so I'm not sure if this is normal for a period to change this drastically or what. But I'm also not sure if I am still pregnant even though the test came back negative I have been feeling sick to my stomach on and off for a week and I've been really tired, maybe I'm just paranoid. I told my doctor my worries but she doesn't seem worried but I am because I've had problems with my sinus all week and I've been taking sinus pills and I don't want to be harming the baby. Sorry for going on and on. I think I am getting worked up over nothing.

Hi! It does sound as though we are in very similar situations!

I too am 22 years old. I've only been on the pill since May, but have had no problems with it until a few weeks ago. I started getting sick to my stomach, lightheaded, had to pee like crazy, and then started spotting...much like you, only my period wasn't due for two and a half weeks at the time. I don't think it's a UTI because there's no pain involved.

I also know what you mean when you mentioned feeling paranoid with all of the symptoms..me too. It's like you feel your body doing something a little out of the ordinary and it's all you can think about. I don't think you're getting worked up about nothing...if you're body is doing something a bit on the strange side, there's generally a reason for it.

Keep me updated. Are you going to take another pregnancy test or wait until your next period to see what happens? I think I'm going to take another pregnancy test next week. My period isn't due for 10 more days.

Wow this is really weird I started back on the pill in May also, I was on the depo shot for two years but I gained like 15 lbs so I asked my ob/gyn to put me back on the pill. I'm not sure if I'm going to re-test next week or not I suppose it wouldn't hurt. I'm almost thinking of calling my ob/gyn and asking his nurse what she thinks, it's what I should of did in the first place instead of calling my normal doctor but of course I was nervous. I'll keep you posted. Let me know how yours turns out too.

We're so similar, it's almost scary! Sorry you had so much trouble with the depo and gaining weight. Is it better for you now on the Yasmin? Hope so. This is my first experience with any type of birth control, so it's all new to me.

I'm glad there's someone out there who knows what I'm going through and feeling. My husband and I will be going home for the holidays and will buy a test there...I'll try to let you know the outcome.

When I started spotting, it freaked me out too and I called my OB/GYN. She said to take a pregnancy test, so maybe the outcome wouldn't be too much different than just calling your regular doc.

If you re-test next week, try to keep me updated. Do you want a baby? My husband and I wanted to wait a couple of years before trying to have a baby (we just got married in July), but deep down inside, I would be excited if we did now even though it would make things very hard for us (maybe that's bad of me).

Well, take care and good luck either way you want the test to go. Have a wonderful holiday! - kate
