Pregnant?...Not pregnant?...

I am just losing my mind here. Get ready for this one. My husband left for a deployment about two months ago. While he was here, I was taking birth control fairly regularly (I was still periodically forgetting). He left in mid June. I had a normal period in July, but as of a few days ago, I had missed my period for August which would have occurred two weeks ago. I have also noticed slight weight gain. I had been passing this off as due to stress, when a friend finally convinced me to go get a pregnancy test at the hospital. I took a blood test and it came back positive. So now, my husband has been gone for exactly 2 months. I am already 2 months pregnant!? I was shocked. This morning however, I woke up only to find that I AM on my period now. What does this mean!? If you're wondering... I have no other symptoms... no breast tenderness, no morning sickness... HELP!? Am I pregnant or not? And how common is it to have period during pregnancy. My doctor had told me that the one in July was probably normal, since it was most likely so soon after fertilization. But 2 periods? Please help.

I would call your doc and have him do hcg levels on you and make sure they are still rising/doubling just to be sure you didn't m/c.

I agree, go have yourself checked to be sure. It does happen that people have bleeding in early pregnancy....there is a web site with information about I posted it yesterday I believe, that name was "Page about 1st trimester bleeding" look at that thread and go to the link. It will help you understand what goes on and why some women appear to have there period while there pregnant.

well... as an update... (thank you to all who replied... you helped). I made a phone call to the doctor, he told me that i had 2 options sit at home and wait to see if i stopped bleeding (is he kidding?) or come in to the emergency room and find out for sure. So i went to the emergency room and sat there for a while. after a quick exam, the doctor said that i wasn't miscarriaging. but it might be a tubal (my mom lost a baby and almost died herself from a tubal). That really didn't make me feel all that much better. so after they took some blood, i began the long wait for the ultrasound. the doctor finally came back into the room with a puzzled look on his face. apparently the blood test he had taken showed that i was in fact NOT PREGNANT. How could the first one be wrong? I thought blood tests were very accurate. So, I went from being not pregnant... to 2 months pregnant... and then back again in a matter of 2 days. I don't know if i can handle too much more of this stress.

Thanks again to all who replied.

OH Starpty! I know what an emotional rollercoaster of emotions this must have been for you! Did you doctor have any explanations for the positive blood test? As for the accuracy of blood tests, I always thought they were VERY accurate. But, I'm learning that certain things come into play, such as hcg levels or just plain ole human error.

One of my gfs went in for sinus surgery and they came into the room and told her they couldn't do the surgery because she was pg! She was 43 ( in great shape and doesn't look it! ) and was NOT expecting this news. It was a total shocker. So, they did another urine test and it came up positive. So, she made an appt with her OB/GYN and he took blood. It came back NEGATIVE. She was flipping out......not pregnant.....pregnant....then, told not pregnant. So, she asked for another blood test and it was POSITIVE! Her doctor had no explanation. She figures some other girl was probably told she WAS pregnant....that it was a lab error. Just wild.

So, you just never know! I never had a clue as to how involved and complicated this all could be! And, the waiting......UGH! Anyway, glad you hopefully know what's going on with you and that you're well! Best wishes :) Missy
