Scared & need advice

Hi,

I am just a little scared and I need some advice. First, I am 20DPO - hardly any pg signs, temps are still high (first time). At 18DPO, saw one spot of pinkish blood. Still having AF cramps off an on, although less and less. Off and on, maybe once a day, I have pain on my left side that lasts less than 5 minutes, often even less, this morning, very slightly, on my right side.

I have not done a test, we have been trying for over a yr, and want to be sure before testing. I have 2 concerns: when should I start having symptoms - besides boobs that are just very tender, (and gas) and should I be overly concerned by the pain and spot of blood? I'm guessing that some sort of pain is *normal*

Been reading some stuff on ectopic pregnancies, and I feel sick just thinking about it. Very confused...

First off, when is/was AF due? Cramping is actually quite normal as long as it isn't getting more painful. The pinkish blood you saw could have been implantation bleeding. As for symptoms, everyone is different. Some people have all the symptoms right up front, others don't have any right away. The only way to tell for sure at this point would be to take a test with first morning urine (FMU). If it comes up negative, wait a few days and test again if AF still hasn't arrived. If that was implantation, the numbers will be doubling now. Good luck.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply. AF was due between 12DPO and 14DPO. We are now 20DPO. Pinkish spotting (TP only and very little) was at 18DPO. Before that, I wasn't worried. The pain is sometimes sharpish on my left side, but doesn't last long. Come to think of it, also felt it when bd with DH.

Is it possible you O'd late? Probably TMI, but did you bd with dh the day of or day before the spotting? I would sometimes spot with bd'ing while pg.

Hello, How you holding up?

I can share with you what I experienced. (I had IVF,so it might be a little differerent.) Before I took a hpt, I thought for sure I was going to start. I had cramps, and knew that af was coming. Along with the cramping, I had some spotting, and got worried. It wasn't normal spotting, very dark, odd color. This spotting continued for a week or so, then off and a week for or two. I had a flash of fresh blood, and that was it. (I did lose an embryo, so the flash could have been that) 11 days after the transfer I took a hpt (eventhough I was scheduled for a blood test, I couldn't wait) and got a positive! Now, 12 weeks later, I'm carrying twins! I don't know much about tubal pregnancies, but from what I know the pain is unbarable. Take a hpt, my only advice on that is to spring for the digital, straining to make sure that second faint line is there will make you even crazier! I went through two of the "one line or two" tests, then said, screw it, and got the other one, seeing for sure that it said "pregnant" was a relief! I hope that helps a little. Good Luck! Let me know what happens!

Hi!
About the sharp pain in the side, when you get pregnant the ovary produces a little cyst that produces hormones until the placenta and everything is formed. That could be what you're feeling. It's not supposed to hurt at all, but mine was seriously painful - I'd wake up in the middle of the night and cry out in pain (had some severe cramping too, enough to double over). I think I'm just very sensitive, I could feel the baby move at 12 weeks too..

Point is, ectopic pregnancies are pretty unusual and all sorts of pains and cramps are very common and usually nothing to worry about (easier said than done) so don't stress it...=) I went and insisted on an ultrasound at five weeks and everything was fine, but the doctor thought I was a little silly I think...

Hi!

Well, gave in and took a pregnancy test... and it was positive, immediately. Forget about the one-minute thing test thing. It was instananeous.

I'm still scared-I have a dull achy feeling in my lower left back. A few tinges, less painful, on the right side.

I will go see a Dr. tomorrow morning to be safe. Still can't believe it!! We've been trying for so long! Wish me lots of luck!!

Thanks so much!

Thanks so much Lee! I usually over-react to these things anyway. In any case, will go see a Dr. tomorrow morning and see what she says.

Best of luck to you!

Actually, the red spot may have been implementation bleeding, which occurs when the fertilized egg attaches itself to the uterine lining - usually near the onset of your period. I'm 17 weeks pregnant with my first, and this is exactly what happened with me; I actually mistook it for my period initially. Most other symptoms would not occur this early, except for perhaps fatigue. Good luck!
