Short Cycles but no period; weird rash

HI All,

I am new to this board so forgive me if I don't know the abbreviations for things!

I have very short cycles.  It's been this way for quite a long time.  I usually get my preiod every 18-21 days.  That much is regular.  I've gone back and looked at my calendar for the past 6 months, and it's never more than about 20 days wihout seeing at least some spotting.  I joking refer to myself as "a bleeder", as it seems like my period is always there.  Not that I am losing more blood than people with normal 28-30 day cycles.  I am definitely not anemic.  I digress...

I had unprotected sex approximately 3 weeks ago.  He did not pull out, and I am not on any BC at all.  About 7-9 days after unprotected sex (estimating?) I had some very mild spotting, which caught me offguard.  At that point it had been only 14 days since my last period, so I was annoyed wondering why I was spotting so early, and I thought my period would likely come earlier than normal.  But it didn't.  The light spotting disappeared after only 1-2 days.  Right around the time of the spotting, I developed a bizarre rash.  I am not prone to rashes--never had one in my entire life that I recall.  But this is like tiny little pinpricks on my forearms, upper-stomach area (large patch below belly button), and a tad on my neck, where the collarbones meet.  So now I've had this rash for 2 weeks.  It won't go away.  Doesn't seem like eczema.  Not dry at all.  Doesn't bother me too much unless I start scratching. Extremely bizarre for me.  I have not used any new products or eaten anything out of the ordinary.

It has been 24 days since my last period.  Now this is highly abnormal for ME.  I can't even remember the last time I did not get at least spotting by day 18-21.  I've noticed a slight change in appetite--basically I don't have a big appetite.  I've been picking at my food and wanting fresh fruit and green vegetables.  I went to the doc recently and my weight was lower than I expected by a few pounds.  I have noticed I've lost my desire for anything fatty, heavy, or sweet.  I LOVE sweets, so this is odd.  I now have an aversion to desserts of any kind, and I have stopped putting even a little bit of sugar in my tea because anything sweet  is just a turn-off lately.

Several days ago,one of my nipples felt horribly painful to touch.  That lasted maybe 2 days.  But in the past few days, my nipples feel fine, my breasts feel a bit tender--but tenderness is normal around my period anyway, so I can't say.

I've been feeling constipated, which is not normal when I am about to have my period, as around that time I tend towards very loose stools.

I've had mild uterine cramping.  Sometiems I mistake it for gas.  I don't feel bloated.  I don't feel the way I should feel right before a period.  I know I have mild cramping and my breasts are a little sore, but somehow it doesn't feel the same as when I'm about to get my period. I'm 3-4 days late, by my book, and it feels like my period is not coming.  If I AM indeed pregnant, I am probably 3 weeks, so I know there may not be many symptoms at that point.

I'm wondering anyway what is the likelyhood I would be 3-4 days late and happened to have unprotected sex?  I'm so anxious and not sure whether to go out and get a pregnancy test.

Thank you for any thoughts.  Anyone have a rash so early on??

Hello there,

Welcome to the board!  It sounds like you are experiencing quite a few signs of early pregnancy.  Considering that you have all of these signs, and that you had unprotected sex, I would highly recommend that you take a home pregnancy test.  That will really be the only way to knwo for sure what could be going on.  The rash is interesting- that's not really a common sign of early pregnancy so it may be related or could be something totally different. Have you been sick at all lately?

Hi Kristy thanks for your reply! I am drilling my brain and just can't see how this is not pregnancy. I'm never, ever late like this. I guess at $20 a pop, I wondered if it was too early to do the pee test. I looked at my calendar and the dates I know I would have conceived were less than 3 weeks ago, I was wrong above. It would be 3 weeks on wed or thurs this week. I'm trying to stay calm but my anxiety is killing me. Oops to answer you, I have had very minor bouts of nausea, nothing I think of as a big deal as all kinds of things can make me nauseous. Another thing I noticed in the past few days that I had no idea could be a pregnancy symptom until I was looking up symptoms is that my body feels warmer than normal. I live in a cool climate, and I always keep my thermostat at the same temp. But there were 3 nights in the past 5 where I woke up and felt like I was being suffocated to death. I asked others if despite the fact that the outdoor whether temp has not changed in weeks, if they feel its somehow warmer outside. I know these could all be coincidences. I think I will wait until this weekend when I see the *father* to take a test. If I still don't have a period by then I think it can only mean one thing. Thanks again for your reply!!

It sure does sound like something is going on.  I can totally understand wanting to wait to test too, especially when they are so spendy.  Do you have a dollar store in your area?  I know all of the ones around here sell pregnancy tests and they are pretty darn accurate!  It may be something to consider if you just can't wait (I know the wait just killed  me!).  Good luck- keeping you in my thoughts!

I'm so glad you decided to test!  Congratulations on your positive result! I'm sure you must be feeling a mixture of emotions at this point.

Do you know yet what your due date is? I hope you'll consider joining us over at the Expecting Clubs!  They are a great place to get to know other ladies who are due the same month you are.

Thank you! I am not with the father, we had split amicably one week earlier, and he is very upset and wants me to have an abortion, but I'm keeping the baby and hope he will come around. Neither of us are spring chickens, so I don't want to give this baby up at 34 and 44 years old, neither of us have kids. My family is happy. My laptop crashed so I'm on my phone, it's tough to write much. But thank you for your kind words of support! I'm scared and dealing with a 44-year old baby too :/
