Should I Stop...?

I'm twenty-one and have been married for about a month. I think my husband and I may have a honeymoon child on the way. A year ago my gyno put me on the pill to help stabilize my wacky cycles. I've never been good at remembering them and sometimes they make me very sick, so my husband and I decided we would find another birth control method. Well, I finished the pack for the month we got married and was supposed to menstruate a week-and-a-half after we got married, but I skipped. I didn't think that it was a big deal because sometimes I skip (pill or no pill). I took a test and it was negative. Since then, however, My breasts have been swollen and rather painful in the evenings and my hips have been killing me. I'm also very tired and moody/whiny (as my husband put it). I don't feel like doing anything.

I am finishing my last pack of pills and am supposed to have my period next week. I'm not sure if I am pregnant and was told by a friend that my pills could cause me to miscarry. That would feel like an abortion to me. Should I stop taking my pills now or finish the pack and test if I skip again?

Hi Manda,

I just got done going through the same basic thing. I have always been really bad at remembering to take my pills. Then in November of last year I had all of the symptoms of pregnancy, I called my DR and she said that she thought I was two months pregnant and she told me to stop taking the pill, so I did and my AF came (i think that I was only two weeks preg.)

Then last month I started feeling the same symptoms that I had felt before. and I descided not to call my DR and not to stop taking the pills. When I got to the day that I was supposed to menstrate I had a miscarrage.

My DR said that If I wanted to get preg. that she would have me start taking meds to make me ovulate, (my AF is very irregular too) but I decided rather than spending the money on the meds (since my insurance doesn't cover them) just to go off the pill and see if I could get preg. on my own. I was supposed to start my AF today but it didn't come. And for the past 2 weeks I've been having BB tenderness, nausia, sleepiness, lower back pain, more discharge than normal, cramps and I feel bloated. I test tomorrow.

I recommend that you see your DR and find out what he/she has to say, and pray. I'll pray for you too. I hope you get the news you are hoping for.

God bless you,

Heaz

Thanks for the info. I would love to have a baby right now, but it would be a bad idea. My husband is a senior at Southern Illinois and can only work part-time at his carpentry. I only have a temp position at a department store and while he is covered through a student policy, I have not been able to afford health insurance for four years now. My father would never pay for it, but he made too much for me to be eligible for a state medical card. I think I should probably look into it now that I'm married though. Funny, I never thought of it til now. Of course if I am preg, it's too late to prevent it (duh).

Anyway, I'm planning on testing at the end of this week. I read an article on here (Ten symptoms you may be pregnant) and realized I had all but the morning sickness, but I have tummy troubles and feel sick a lot so maybe I just haven't noticed. Just last week my husband looked at my aerolas and said " Those are huge." Yesterday, when I woke up, the front of my PJ shirt had little damp circles on it. I didn't realize it was a symptom until I got on this site.

I'm probably getting a little too personal, but we just moved here (4 hours from home) and I really need someone to talk to about this stuff. I don't like getting too in-depth with my hubby because he gets really worried about money and all. I don't want to upset him if it turns out I'm just being paranoid.

By the way, what to some of these abreviations on here mean? I keep seeing them. AF and BB and DS?

Anyway, thanks a lot. Good luck with your own test. I hope you get your baby!

Where exactly in Southern Illinois do you live? I live in Herod, IL which is about 25 minutes out of Harrisburg.

As for myself I am exactly 8 weeks late with 4 negative hpts and one negative doctor's urin test. But I am late, darkening aerolas, more Montgomery's tubercles (the bumps) that have been getting bigger, blood vessels on bbs, and headaches about everyother day.

I am trying to find a place that will do a free blood test but have not been able to find one in this area yet and thought you might be able to help.

Best of luck to you!!!!!

Hey, you're not too far from me! I live smack in the middle of Carbondale. My husband is a senior in Forestry at SIUC. We just moved here though, so I don't know a whole lot about the area (except that it has some beautiful forest preserves). I'm still trying to figure out where the health department is. But I was lucky enough to find Wal-mart and Aldi's, so I guess I'm doing ok.

I'm keeping an eye out, though. So far it seems like the two most popular businesses in Carbondale are doctors and lawyers (I wonder if the combination should be worrying me).

If you've had that many negative tests, I wouldn't think that you were pregnant. I know urine tests never worked for my mom, though. Maybe you're the same way. Or it could be that maybe your hormones are just playing games with you. I know mine like to.

Good luck and God bless!
