As far as I know:
A blood test (which you can get at your doc) can be done about less than a week before your next expected period. A HPT (home preg test) can be done a couple days before your expected period - that is, there are tests that specifically state "early test". The normal ones you should wait until at least the day of your expected period (obviously, if the period is late).
Good luck and stay patient!!

I understand where you are coming from. I've been experiencing the same things myself but my nxt period is due this Saturday. I done a test last night and it was neg, however, I'm gona wait and see if my period comes or not on Sat. If not I'll do another test nxt week. I think that some of us get so obsessed with becoming pregnant that we want to be experiencing all the symptoms. Therefore, if we have the slightest discomfort or feel a little nausea, we're pregnant!! I don't think a test will tell you for sure at this early time. You shud try keep your mind off it for a while, at least another week and then do an "early test". Judging by your information on your last period and when you had unprotected sex, there is 12 days. Depending on the lenght of your cycle, most women are very fertile and ovulating around 11 to 12 days after the first day of their last period.
Take care and good luck.
