I posted a message a little while ago and no one has responded yet, sorry to be so impatient but I really want help. A couple of weeks ago I thought I was pregnant because my breasts were sore and noticeably larger and I was sleeping (a lot) more than normal and I was more moody and eating more. Normally nothing happens to my breasts when I'm about to get my period so I was sure I was pregnant. I bought a First Reponse test (actually two) and took one on thursday of last week. Two lines appeared but the second one was very faint. So I decided to wait until I was one day late from my period. I thought I was supposed to start on sunday, I didn't start so I took another test yesterday and the same thing happened. Today, I started my period...normally during my period I only have bad back pain. (in my lower back) now I have pain in my lower abdomen and my lower back. Someone please help me understand what's going on??? Why was my body doing all those changes acting like it was pregnant if I started my period?

if you had 2 faint positives, i'd say you're pregnant. if i were you, i'd call the doctor, tell them about the 2 tests, and go from there. may be they'll do a blood test and see you soon. i have heard that many women have bleeding like a period when they're pregnant. good luck and keep us posted on what's happening.

Hi Rosa,

Not sure if I can be of any help - but I think a line is a line. Maybe this isn't really your period but just some spotting? My advice would be to take another test and see if the lines still appear, wait it out for a day and see if the bleeding lightens up and/or stops and then call your dr who would be able to tell you for sure what's going on. Also, I've heard that some women get their period and pregnant at the same time.

I hope I helped.

Hugs - Lisa

Hi Lisa, yeah normally my period is very heavy the first day or two but today it's not as heavy, but it's not really light spotting like I've read about. My mother passed away a couple of months ago so I talked to my dad about it and he said that he's convinced my mom had at least one period with a couple of us girls (I have 3 sisters). what I don't understand is the menstrual pain is worse than normal. thanks for your advice. :)

yeah I was planning on going to the doc tomorrow morning. My husband is in the airforce and the office I would be going to takes walk-ins from 7:30 - 11am. Would they need to do an exam or anything? Or just the blood test? I would feel really really weird being on my period (or whatever it is) and having an exam done? thanks for responding. :) I really like this website, it's given me a lot of adivise on things.

Hi,

I had a similar situation a few months back. I was testing before my period was due and got a faint line. I started to bleed about 10 days after my period was due. Phoned the dr. right away. They will two 2 blood tests 2 days apart. They test the hcg levels. In my case, mine were not consistent with normal levels, and it was determined my pregnancy was ectopic. This is a high concern. Ectopic pregnancies can be dangerous if not caught early. I hope this isn't the case with you. I will be hoping, and watching to see how you make out.

Hi,

I am very new to this forum. I don't know from personal experience, but my mother had her period for three months when she was pregnant with me. So there is a possibility for you to be pregnant and still get your monthly visitor. Maybe you should see your ob/gyn doc for conformation.

good luck

yeah, my dad told me that my mom had her period at least once with a couple of us girls. I'm hoping for the positive but we'll see. :)
