Been on the pill 6+ years.

LMP was 9/11.

BF and I have sex w/o condom, but usually put one on before he fully ejac's.

Was due to get period on 10/9. On 10/3, started a brownish discharge. On 10/8 started period. I am never early. Period was lighter than usual, but was bright red. Lasted until Sunday. Usual periods start on Thurs and last till about Mon with some spotting.

B/c my period was so abnormal, I took a HPT on Fri 10/10 (actually took 2) both were neg.

I also went to the Dr. He gave me an internal and observed the blood output on my tampon (sorry for being so graphic. He said everything looked and felt fine. He put me on a mono-phasic pill, rather than tri-phasic, as he thinks that might be the cause for the spotting and lighter period. I also recently started dieting and excercising and he said that that stress could affect my cycle too.

I started the new pill this past Sunday.

I have no other symptoms, no breast tenderness or sore nipples. No nausea or vomitting. The only thing I have noticed is I am having trouble sleeping, I keep waking up b/c I feel warm and my mouth is dry - I was chalking it up to the change in weather.

But I have read that you can be preg and still have your period.

Could I be?? I am contemplating taking another HPT. Would the results be accurate now?

Any answers would be greatly appreciated.

You can get pregnant while having a period, Realy if its light, Or abnormal periods.

What kind of meds did he put you on? Was it Provera? Thats what my docter gave me on the 1st through the 10th. And after you get off it you are supposed to bleed 3-14 days after you stop taking it.

Some women don't have any symptoms when they are pregnant, I only threw up 3 times when I was preg with my daughter. I wouldn't rely on urine tests to much, I would go with your intuition, That little voice in the back of your head you know if you are no matter what any test says! The main thing is to relax! You don't want to mess up your cycles worring!

Try to get your mind off it and think of positive things! I hope this helps!

He didn't put me on meds - he jsut switched my pill. I was on Ortho-Tricyclen and now I am taking Ortho-cyclen.

And I wasn't asking if I could get pregnant while having a period. I think I may have confused you.

My question is - what are the odds if on the pill, not missing any, of getting pregnant but still getting my period...

Anyone ???

the pill is supposed to be 98% + effective when you take it "perfectly". also, there's an article on here that says that sometimes, a woman who gets pregnant while on the pill may continue to have a period because the pill makes it so there is still an estrogen drop, and if you're sensitive to hormone level changes, it can be enough to cause bleeding. i'm in a similar situation - i'm on yasmin, but last month, my af was way lighter than normal and didn't contain any clots like it usually does. it was just weird. my af normally starts on wednesday, but i missed the last pill of my current pack, so it should have started today. i also never start early, at least not more than starting the evening before it should have started (normally starts in the morning). i took the last pill of my pack (well, 2nd to last) friday. i've had spotting sunday, monday, and then had some this afternoon. i ordered some tests online and they came today, so i intend to test in the morning (problem is i have to be to work at 6:30am...i'll probably pee before i remember that i was going to take the test!). the best advice i can give you is that if you keep having symptoms after your af quits, take a test. and no matter what it says, if you still feel like you're pregnant, make sure you get back to your doc. good luck!
