I need some tips on how to slim down before getting pregant. I'm at least 10lbs over what I should be... I'm having a hard time making myself do anything, but when we actually start TTC, I'd like to be as healthy as I can possibly be!! I'm not really worried about my weight as much as I am the size clothing I have to wear, I'd like to drop at least a few sizes, and probably at least 10-15lbs... Thanks girls!!

Lauren -

I'm not sure where you live, so I don't know if outdoor exercise is an option. I find walking to be the best way to exercise that isn't very time or labor intensive. Watch what you eat, you don't really need to revamp your entire diet. If you just keep a closer eye on your meals, portion control, fat content, etc. Drink lots of water, it will help stave off unnecessary eating and keep you good and hydrated.

If you are willing to get a gym membership, that would be ideal. I workout 4 - 5 days a week, doing 30 minutes of cardio followed by 30 minutes of weightlifting. Muscle burns more calories, even at rest than fat does. My biggest word of advice is to take it one step at a time, doing one new thing is better than doing none. If you walk for 15 minutes after dinner, you’re started on the right track!

Good Luck!

Thank you so much for your advice Aimy!! I do want to start walking, but I don't like to do it alone... my DH works kinda late, so by the time he gets home, he's got a million other things to do. Maybe I can talk him into it, we live in East Texas, so it's really nice out right now. I can't really afford a membership, had one, but too hectic to work out often. I will try walking, and definitely drinking lots of water... :) Thanks again! Hope your pregnancy is going well!! :)

Lauren,

Hi...I just lost 20lbs...on Weight Watchers...it is soooo freakin easy and I never felt deprived of anything. I did not attend meetings I got all the info from family members that were doing it, and I just did it on my own and went to the WW website for support. I think that it is a great program...I still need to lose 20 more lbs...but it is kinda late because I am almost positive that I am already preggo. I really think that it is worth a try...I lost it within 2 months, and just walked about everyday for about 20mins....to 2 hours. Hope this is a little help.

I had good luck watching this guy on the health channel...Gilad. He does a workout show that is on in the a.m. and p.m., basicallly all day. It's only a half hour, nothing fancy and it's over before you know it. And cable is a little cheaper than a gym. I got really into it and did it a couple a times a day. Now I do some cardio-kickboxing (which I love) twice a week along with Gilad. I've lost about 35 lbs. Hope that helps.

p.s. Have you ever been to the Schlitterbahn water park (heard it's great)? Just wondering...

Lauren,

And good luck to you! I currently live in Yuma, AZ. so it's always warm here ;) How do you like East Texas? This will sound strange, but I've always wanted to see it there, hubby is a Border Patrol Agent, so I have to keep my relocation dreams close to, well, borders. Like I said earlier, as long as you have the desire to do something, your one step closer to the goal.... very cheesy, I know, but true.

Janice-

You are in East Texas too?! I'm just outside Tyler, it's only a few minutes drive to town.... where are you at?

If you don't mind my asking, how old are you? :) It's neat to know someone here, who lives in my area!

Lisa-

I've never been to Schlitterbahn, I've lived here in Texas for about 5 years, and never been! Isn't it a water park? I'm not that crazy about parks like that, I can't swim! LOL As for the Health Channel, I don't think we have that, we only have basic cable.... :(

Aimy-

I love it here, it's really beautiful, and the weather is decent... I still don't like the summer, but when Winter gets here, I come alive! lol You know, I don't think the border to Louisiana is that far from here... ;)
