Okay Starting last wednesday (april 4th) I've been showing symptoms. Been feeling sick/nauseous,(getting sick every couple days), feeling tired. and well the past few months, my period has been starting about a week early, and while technically I'm not supposed to start until this Thursday, I was spotting at the end of last week. My mum and two sisters automatically thought the same thing, that I'm pregnant. I saw a doctor they said it's probably just the stomach flu, but I think it seems to be lasting a little long. He also brought up the chance of pregnancy. As of today, I've taken three pregnancy tests, all negative results. And that doesn't mean I'm not, right? I have a sister where it didn't show she was pregnant until almost 3 months. I'm waiting to see if I do start Thursday, if not then Friday morning I'll take one again. However either postive or negative results, Should I probably go get the blood test done just to make sure? The doctor suggested it, I guess I'm just nervous. I'm not really ready for this but if I am, I want to know so I can take the right steps to have a healthy pregnancy. Any advice, suggestions, words of wisdom, you know, would be great. Thanks ~Kimberly

Hello,

You should definately get a bloodtest for pregnancy just to be sure. It is VERY rare to have a negative HPT and still be pregnant unless you have tested too early. If you test the day of or after your period is due, you are very likely to get accurate results.

Good Luck

Well I'm in a similar situation as you and I know how you feel! I've also had negative test results but I still haven't started my period and I'm wondering what to do. I've also heard of people who take a long time to get a positive test result. Whereas a positive test result is very accurate, all the negative result means is that your hormone levels are below a certain concentration-- they could be zero or they could be too low to detect yet. I don't have any words of wisdom for you, but I can sympathize! Keep us posted. :)
