Was this a chemical pregnancy?

Well, I had THREE VERY, VERY, VERY faint positives yesterday. I was REALLY getting excited. My husband saw them but didn't think they counted because they were so barely there. BUT THEY WERE THERE. I told him that the fact they they existed at all was the important part. All three tests had them, plus the one this morning. They were DEFINATELY NOT evap lines as they showed up right away. Again - they were REALLY, REALLY, REALLY light but I've had enough negatives to know when there is SOMETHING of a second line. Anyway -We agreed to test agin this am. I did and got ANOTHER FAINT, FAINT positive but along with that I also got AF. I was REALY shocked. Should I assume that this was a chemical pregnancy? Wouldn't that be the only reason to get faint positives and then my period? It's day 31 and my cycles are usually 26-27 days. I'm not happy at all.

You could be at the very beginning of your pregnancy. Have you been pregnant before? I've had periods before with all three of my kids. The doctors just called it old blood, but to me they were typical periods. Not trying to get your hopes up but just letting you know. Try testing again in about a week.

I have three girls and never had so much as a spot with any of them. If the tests weren't so faintly positive, I'd hold out hope, but I just don't think that it's possible. I'm assuming I must have conceived or else there would be no line at all, but I think the whole thing just went wrong after that. Maybe I concieved in the uterus instead of the fallopian tube and the cells didn't have enough time to divide properly before implatning...who knows. I'm just down aobut it. I was really starting to get excited. It is what it is, I suppose. Thanks for the response.

I would call my Dr. Tell him you had a postive PG test, but are spotting and are concerned. Most Dr.'s offices would see you (at least all the ones I've been to). My cousin had complete periods all 9 mos. of her pregnancy and her dr. said she was totally fine - she has a beautiful 2 year old. I didn't have any spotting w/my DD, but a lot of women do. I'd call my Dr. so you know either way. If you had a chemical pregnancy, most Dr.'s would want to know that.

Thanks Sara. I did call my doctor. He'll be in later and call me back. I have a full blown period and major cramping. Since my tests were SOOOOOOO lightly positive, despite the fact that I was 4/5 days late, I truly doubt this was/is a viable pregnancy. I'll be curisou to see what he says about it.

To answer your question about what a chemical pregnancy is, it is when the the egg and sperm meet and create a blastocyst but for some reason it dose not implant or does not implant properly. Chemical pregnancies are very early miscarriages they happen before a heartbeat can be heard on U/S.

Keep trying. Good luck next month :)
