Weird period/bleeding question...

Thanks in advance to anybody reading this! First off, a little background. I am 26, almost 4 years post op gastric bypass, and engaged to be married in the fall of this year. I have been on BCP for the past 3 years and as a result, my periods have been very predictible. Except....

Last month my period started 5 days late. And it wasn't much of one. It was ***TMI*** mostly brown snotty-type substance. I know, gross huh! I have never had that before.
Then to my suprise this month...aunt flo came 4 days early (I still had active pills left!) It is pretty light for me and very thin pink-ish red and no clots whatsoever (which is weird for me) but I think I can see what appears to be little lumps of tissue in the toliet water. I am also having noticible cramping, but it doesn't feel like the normal, dull period achey cramping. I don't know how to explain it, but it's just different.

The other weird thing is that I don't have my normal pms symptoms I normally have. I'm a little cranky, but I usually bloat a good 5-8 pounds of water during aunt flo. Nothing this time...again, really weird because that is also really predicitable.

I have been consistant taking my pills and haven't forgotten one in years. But here is the thing...I was on antibotics the first 2 weeks of January for a sinus infection. I asked the pharmacist if I would need a back up method with these antibotics and he said no, I would be fine. My fiancee and I did the deed while I was on the antibotics and also after I finished them.

I know I probably am not pregnant. It's pretty much "if you bleed, no pg!" right? But you guys know periods like no one else I know and I was just wondering if anyone has been in the same aunt flo boat I am in that may be able to shed some light on why my cycles are all of a sudden screwy and bleeding in a way I have never seen before? I'm probably going to get a dollar store test just to see...but would it be too early if this is some weird early pregancy thing?

Thanks for any help ladies!!

1- The Pharm. Lied to you. Antibiotics do weaken the effectivness of BC. So does being sick. I think you need to find a new Pharm.

2- People can bleed and be PG at the same time.

Hey girl! Congrats on the surgery :o)

Anywho...did you go to your OBGYN or to your family care doctor? You know, you can just walk in to your regular doctor and tell them what type of blood you need to be drawn. Thats what I did after my OBGYN peeved me off. Doctor's don't know everything, especially your own body. However...

Going off BCP and getting on them can cause weight gain, bloating, and all that jazz. Plus reading things can make you think you are preggo. (I am in school for nursing right now)

I would get a blood test when you can and when it turns out postive rub it in the OBGYN's face and go find a new one who wants to listen to you. Besides, it shouldn't be up to HER what you need done, it should be what YOU want done. Early pregnancies are so fragile that over 50% can miscarry with in the first few weeks. So injest those extra 300 cals a day, drink water, and find out for sure okay?

Best wishes to you and a lot of baby dust. Do what I do, pee on ever stick you can...It's fun.
