What's the soonest you can test?

With my son I was two weeks late and tested then but we recently decided to start ttc and I have a fairly good handle on when I ovulate (I'm very regular). When we had my son I could pinpoint exactly when we conceived because I'm so regular and always ovulate at the same time. Anyways, how soon after possible conception can someone test? I'm only a couple days past when we bd'ed but I'm so anxious to know. Thanks for any info!

The soonest you can test is 3, sometimes 4 days, before your expected period. This is only with certain brands and the accuracy of the test goes down each day before your period. The best way to do it, in my opinion, is to wait 14 days after you ovulated or the day you are expecting your period to test. I would rather wait and be sure than take a test early and wonder if the negative is right or not. Hope this helps,
Faith
The waiting to test can be agonizing, especially when you want to see the two lines on the little stick. The best over the counter tests detect as little as 25 units of HCG so you can test before your period is technically late. In my case, I just found out I was pregnant with number 6 on day 20 of my cycle. I don't know why I decided to test so so early (it was still 8 days before I even expected my period) but I had experience light pink spotting on days 17, 18, and 19 of my cycle that I thought might be implantation bleeding. Anyway, the test (which was the Equate brand which measures pregnancy hormone at 100 units) was positive!! Now, I'm on pins and needles wondering if this might be multiples since the test came back positive so early on. I know my dates are right since I took a pregnancy test on September 7 which came back negative and started my period on September 8. So, as it pertains to your question, anything is possible, as my own pregnancy points to, but waiting until a period is missed is probably going to be a better idea than taking a test super early. If anyone has had a similar experience to mine with a very early positive reading (ovulation day 14; positive test day 20) please let me know. Good luck, Heather. I hope you'll see two lines very soon.
