Hi, Im currently about 9 days late on my period. I have taken 2 generic tests 4th day at night and 5th day in the morning. I also took one the 7th day in the morning and that was Answer Test...all NEGATIVE of course...Now I bought 2 CLEAR BLUE EASY PREGNANCY (Earlist Results tests up to 4 days before period) ($10.99) please tell me I bought the right one..

I'm not an expert on HPT, but the early detection tests can detect lower amounts of HCG in the urine compared to other post AF tests. You need to be sure how long your cycle is to make sure you have not tested too early. I tested last Thur on 28th and the First Response was negative. My AF shouldn't be until today so that was 8 days early. I then tested Sun 31st and it was a very light line and that was 5 days early so the test detected like it said it would. I also tested with FRE yesterday am and it was darker. So I'm confident in the FRE brand. If you don't get an answer (AF or + test), a blood test can detect the lowest possible levels of HCG. Good luck!!

I know a lot of women have good luck with FRE and CBE, however, not everyone will test accurately with either. When I had my first child, I tested 1 week post AF and got a negative. I then tested 2 weeks post AF and got a positive.

Just last month, I was 7 days late for AF and tested all though that with FRE and got negatives each time. I then got what I thought was my period, tested again 6 days later (weird period and still feeling symptoms so around 12 day post AF) and then got a positive. So, I take all my negative hpts with a grain of salt because this is twice that I've had to be almost 2 weeks post AF before getting a positive, even with a more sensitive test.

Good luck,

Susan
