When to test?

I hate to be another person asking "Am I pregnant??" but I have searched for info and couldn't figure it out.

I have been having some spotting as well as other things that could possibly be early pregnancy symptoms. If this is implantation bleeding, how long should I wait to test? The usual answer is "wait until you miss your period", but I am in the middle of a 3-month birth control pack, so my period isn't due for another 6 weeks.

I would rather not call the doctor just yet, since I am most likely not pregnant, being on birth control. Just want to put my mind at ease.

Thanks for any help.

If it is implantation bleeding, I would wait at least a week. Your body won't start releasing HCG in your urine until implantation is complete. Once that happens, it starts off releasing very small amounts, which double every 2-3 days on average. HPTs detect the HCG in your urine. A positive shows up if the HCG in your urine is higher than the level they are designed to detect. Different HPTs detect different amounts. By waiting at least a week, you give your body a chance to start releasing a high enough amount of HCG that the test would detect it. Good luck!
