If you chose a name based on an interesting or important person from history, who would it be? Is there a great name that is too closely tied to a single person in history for you to feel comfortable using it?

I am crazy about the history of the American founding. I would have loved to use Madison (from James Madison) on a boy if it hadn't become all trendy and girly. I actually know a guy named Madison who is about my age. Also from that era: Benjamin (Franklin), Abigail (Adams), Thomas and Jefferson.

We've already got Penn, after William Penn (among a whole long list of other family connections.)

I've always loved the name Jezebel but there are so many negative connotations associated with it from the bible that I'd never live it down!!!

There's an obscure Star Trek character named Boothby. Don't know if you'd like that one?

Probably not...I'm one of those weird people who doesn't like the trend of making names artificially longer--not like using a "full" name instead of a nn, but where you kind of pad out an existing name to make it seem more "official."
