A friend of mine had twin boys yesterday. I was sad to see one of the names: Dallas. My friend has been naming her dogs city names for many years. Too bad she kept up the trend w/ her son. But I am a little transfixed by her other son's name: Bruin. Aside from the hockey denotation...I kinda dig it!!

Dallas will probably get by okay, but I foresee many years of beer jokes in Bruin's future...

Friends of mine have a little Bear...they're Dutch by heritage and his given name is Berendt.

My DHs nn is Bear. It started when he was a baby, apparently he was a bear when he was hungry. Most of his family still calls him that. The rest call him Ted. One of his brothers made that up in junior high when he thought Bear was too little kiddish.

That's funny, we call our Teddy "Bear" sometimes both because it comes easily from Teddy Bear and because he eats like a pig and is so much bigger than his sister. I'm guessing once he can talk he'll drop the bear and just keep Ted :)

One of the most prominent real estate agents in our area has the first name Dallas. So his jingle is now in my head "Dallas ____. I sell homes!" :) It's nms.

I like Bruin, it's interesting.
