DH and I just had this convo about 15 minutes ago. I seem to know a lot of baby boys named August. When I was pregnant with DD1 I considered that name if she hadn't been a girl. Oddly, I know two girls named Beatrix (my other choice for her). I know like three Sebastians as well and several kids named Liam, Miles and Ezra. I would have thought those would all have been one of a kind.

I don't know if anyone remembered me considering Zella. It's not in the top 1000 baby names and is a really obscure German name. In the end I just like Stella better, trendy or not. Well YAY for that decision because in a total random coincidence like two days after she was born we got an announcement that one of our couple friends had named *their* new baby Zella.

I think we all would have been annoyed if we had chosen the SAME obscure, off the charts name. (I'd bet dollars to donuts they considered Stella too and bucked it for popularity. They are super hispters.) Everyone would be less annoyed if we had all picked Emily, know what I mean? From their perspective, you pick a rare name, you want to be the only one.

Zella is DH's great grandmother's name and I wish we could use. Unfortunately, our last name starts with a Z and I think it would be too much!

I'm shocked that the ones popular in my circles aren't on your lists, because it seems that everyone I know names their kids the same thing!

Repeats:

Some of the new babies in my area are:

Sophia Grace

Ryan Thomas

Callie Grace

Melina

Gabriel

Caleb

Landon and Hayley

Teigen and Tessa

Lillian Grace

Evan

Lilly-Anne

Blake and Bianca

Jamison(girl) and Lucas

Morghan Rae

I do think that most of the names around here are much more conservative than I am interested in. Though when we named my twins, I knew Alex was a conservative choice. Haley, on the other hand, I thought was a fresh, unique choice when we picked it 12 and a half years ago! I didn't know of a single one!
